Yes, it is in THIS particular position, to try to stop Duck's attack. Why? Look at the relative value of the pieces. After her sacrifice, one of her rooks remained still a very poor piece. She gave up her really active queen for Duck's really active rooks, but she was left with only an active rook and an inactive rook. Not the way you want to do that exchange, but she felt she had to. So yeah, I'd call this one a sacrifice. They aren't always, but in this game I say it is.

It depends on the situation. Sometimes two rooks are better. Sometimes they're not. Her problem was, her attack was going to be too slow, and the one undeveloped rook was as if she were playing a rook down. So in this case, it was a sacrifice. To no avail, as it turned out; Duck played it well.

Umm. My friend, only one 'female' GM has ever cracked the top 10 in the chess world; Judit Polgar. Since her, no other female grandmaster has ever come close. This wgm is a really cool person, but definitely not as strong as Judit in her prime. And Hikaru would not have much trouble beating her 7 times out of 10 if not more. It's just the very real nature of societal and biological differences between men and women, which also shows up in chess. Someday another player like Judit will be making chess headlines, I have no doubt of that, but please stop with the false woke mentality. Hans did say something rather true: "The chess speaks for itself". Judit's did. Hikaru's does. It is what it is; nothing more - and nothing less.

There aren't that many female GMs. It's just statistically sound that it would happen naturally that fewer women would come close. But what you said about Hikaru and Judit. Yeah, they would demolish Nemo without a doubt. I'm aware of the controversy around her being titled, and Hikaru actually defended her. But the truth is that she is still quite young, and Duck is no pushover.
