It’s 186 because they count all the credits you took with them and the ones you transferred into WGU. You took 29 (study) + 58 (Sophia) + 33 (cert.) + 30 (VCC) + 36 (WGU) = 186.

Right. Whether it applies to the degree program or not. 86 applied to the degree and a lot did not. I ended up in a similar situation at a public college and ended up with 2 associates which because I needed both a Science and an Arts degree anyhow.

Not sure If you watched to the end. he never attended vcc and the amount of credits from the other institutions thats on his eval is not reflected on the transcript. So the total is not 186. Its way less.

@@sachafrank1083 people comment without the right context. This is concerning!!!!!!!!!! Institutions do NOT make these kinds of mistakes. Not legitimate ones. This is a common tactic from degree mills and they add all of this B.S in just to get graduates out the door and to keep their numbers high! I'm in a state school, brick and mortar, and if they knew about this - I'm sure someone would file a whole report on WGU. This undermines the value of our degrees for students who actually work hard and sacrifice to get every single credit hour we can.

Really sorry this happened. This was messy, but really not all that uncommon. Reviewing your transcript is always a good idea. Mine doesn't give one for free so I never requested one and never checked. My diploma has always been enough for jobs. Recently, I applied for grad school and needed a transcript. I had it sent to my house because the grad school only wanted me to upload a PDF. That's when I realized there was an error on mine. Nothing crazy like yours, but an error, nonetheless. My school fixed it in about 24 hours and sent it out again electronically in less than a week, so I'm happy for that at least. I know this video was a few months ago, so I hope you got yours resolved too. And CONGRATS!!

It’s the Virginia Community College System. If you ever attended a community college in Virginia, there is a partnership with the system as a whole to accept all of the credits from any Virginia-based community college. 186 total credits transferred over, even if they weren’t all applied to your degree. They show how many credits you earned total regardless of how many were applied. I earned like 130 credits from a different college (a traditional one) and they showed all of them on my transcripts even if they were “fall-through” or credits that didn’t get applied toward graduation. Because it was a record that I took them and received a grade.

I'm not WGU, so take this with a grain of salt. But if you're saying that the Transfer credits are correct; that is 150 credits coming in. Of 122 needed for the degree program; but those credits didnt satisfy your degree requirements completely hence the classes you needed to take. So, after all is said and done, you earned 36 credits at WGU. 150+36=186. You only needed the 122 for the degree, this is just telling you what your transcript totals are, not just what was applied for graduation. It looks accurate unless the transfer credits are off somehow.

I am also a Vet and failed CompTiA A plus exam today. I do not feel it is a good university despite their set up. There is zero instruction just links to resources. It is difficult for me to break down the material in a way that applies to the exam. I will probably move onto another field. I"m glad you came out with a video showing you passed! Congrats. They expect you to perform 100% A quality work measured to the rubrics. But they don't apply GPA and state their pass is equivalent to 3.0 B quality. Which don't make sense. It you get one rubric off on an assessment no matter how many different points are being graded. You fail the assignment, It really should be a 4.0

I’m looking at potentially a different degree for Masters. The CEH cert that you get as one of the only certs for the Cyber Masters degree is not well-regarded at all anymore. So it significantly reduces the overall value of the masters program . They have an IT focused MBA that looks pretty cool tho

The only items that will show up on your transcripts are the classes that were used towards your degree. If you have certifications that were not required, they're not going to include them, whether you informed them of them or not.

Personally, I think having to go through all of the WGU courses and being required to pass those third party certifications at the same time can be overwhelming. It's hard for me to recommend that path to people who are new to IT. It's a great option though if you already have experience before you start as it'll be easier to keep up with the material.

That... doesn't add up. Even if every class in the degree was worth 4 credits, that would be a maximum of only 136 because there were 34 classes total in my degree (including those completed through transfer credit).

Let's say for example, if you want the Pentest+ certification, you have to pass CompTIAs exam. The exam doesn't come from WGU (either does the certificate), but WGU will pay for your voucher. Once you pass the official exam, you'd get a certificate directly from CompTIA.

That depends on your mentor. As long as your mentor sees you are capable, they'll let you do as many as you can at once. My friend who I referred who started after I did, was doing three classes at once.

It depends on your program mentor. For your first term, you should be assigned 3 or 4 classes and you can do all of them at the same time if you want. If you finish those before your term ends, you can get additional classes unlocked. They'll likely be unlocked 1 or 2 at a time.
