I’ve watched many of your videos for the very reason that we CAN discuss these topics openly so I’m not buying that we’re shunned and unable to especially in 2024? I think some just aren’t good with criticism or disagreement which is why I don’t usually share my entire life even with friends but idk who is shaming gay men for hooking up honestly.

Hmmm .... this video left me speechless, and not in a good way. As a senior citizen who lived through 1980s, well, just let me say that perhaps you are being a tad judgmental, and perhaps naive. You are, of course, entitled to your opinions and usually enjoy your videos but that is life.

Which part is naive? I'm just curious
@CajunGators

@@grossartusTo be fair those that do are usually accused of being judgmental and phobic but it is very naive to think those who aren’t freely hooking up refrain due to stigma instead of safety or health and are “phobic” of those who do. In a perfect world most men would indulge but that’s not reality. Seems the shaming is usually towards those who don’t want to take a risk.

@@CajunGators mmm i dont think the shame comes from people of the hookup culture, it is normalized yes, but ive heard many judgmental things from the "normies" against people who got HIV or other STD, they say things like " thats what you get for being a slut" i find that so wrong, i dont think patrick is implying that we all should hookup, rather than "do what you want and dont criticized there for doing what they want"
@CajunGators
@CajunGators 6 ай бұрын
@@grossartus I understand that and agree with the premise. I’ve never felt ashamed personally but I wouldn’t take offense to a friend or loved one saying to be careful or warning me (if I were to even share that) and it isn’t “phobic” or shaming. Someone can’t shame you for what you aren’t ashamed of imo.

This is not a thing nor is there a “community” we all feel collective strife when someone doesn’t agree with us. If you’re gonna spill your bedroom business to everyone, it’s subject to criticism. A lot of us are already hyper sexualized and over share as it is, let’s not pretend we’re victims because someone didn’t celebrate us getting laid smh

@@PatrickMarano I don’t think so? I agree with most of your videos and am by no means a saint. But that’s why I keep my business to myself and if someone insulted me for what I’ve done, I wouldn’t care. I feel no shame. How did I miss the point by simply saying not to play victim if someone doesn’t agree?

Okay patriarchy is a non stop go to but wphobia is a buzzword I’ve yet to hear 💀😂 Ugh, people do whatever you want with whoever, nobody is stopping you. Man the community has become so fragile, it’s sad to see so many of us have lost all resilience or confidence.
@PatrickMarano

Fragile yes, but I think people are more vocal about what they like and don't like, and insults and confrontation are also more frequent

Coming out in the early 1980's we were stigmatized due to the AIDS crisis. Having multiple partners was really frowned upon. Now that treatments have gotten better (PREP), there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a whore.

Wasn’t that more safety/survival than stigma though? We must not forget there’s now antibiotic resistant strains of diseases we had cures for. Prep doesn’t help with that.

@@dramonmaster222 Another buzzword that just means “I was insulted” No one can make you feel ashamed for which you aren’t ashamed of. And lumping in sex workers with the same brush with gay men who want to engage in promiscuous behavior is wild. Just go meet up and do your thing. No one could shame you if you’d stop telling everyone about your private life

Every single one of your comments is very confrontational. I respect different perspectives, but you have an abrasive manner that puts others immediately on the defensive. I don't disagree with some of your comments, but I would suggest finding a better way to deliver them.

@@dramonmaster222I think comparing issues workers face to a gay guy feeling offended at someone’s critique of their private life is extremely disingenuous honestly and does a disservice to said workers dealing with risks and dangers we otherwise wouldn’t.

The fact that these reasons for judging sexually active people negatively still exist is a sign that we need to keep educating the community at large. However, it is also important to recognize the gains that have been made. And to keep educating too.

Sex work in various forms is EVERYWHERE - anyone watching Patrick who has an issue with sex work is already confused. So long as no one is being exploited it's NO ONE'S BUSINESS. Adult film performers (according to interviews) are FAR more likely to share a bug from someone outside of the industry. If the rest of us were as careful as sex workers (getting tested, communicating) there would be fewer STIs.

I don't think you can take one person's internet meltdown and make assumptions about a whole community of people. In my experience, sex workers are more up to speed with education and prevention than the general population
