Few tips about purgator, go for either Psilencer astral aim and grenades or psycanon, astral aim and grenades (my recommendation is Psilencer, with speccing into grenades and not taking rapid reload, if you really want to run purgator late game you can sacrifice couple knights for commune with the fallen and grab the rapid reload), try to grab armour that gives extra wargear slot so you can run both crit chance and crit damage wargear (or focus gear if you got rapid reload to bump it to 100% with tier 3 Santic Shard), To recap, Psilencer Discipline, Astral Aim discipline, Kill Zone and Grenades, Grenades spec translates really well into late game for stun comps (Empyrean brain mines), I see most people going into psycannon and sure aoe of tier 3 psycannons like titan's roar is great, but I find the damage lacking comparing to single target dmg of psilencer with ability to do a bit closer range aoe with scatter shot, with proper positioning you can unload scatter shot multiple times, and remember Disrupt shot is your friend - use it on bosses to disable their autos (like Teleport mirror image thingy that Kadex does and proceed to one turn the bastard). Note that if you want grenades in two slots, You can ONLY equip two different types of grenades. You can't have same type in both slots. I WILL REPAET THIS BECAUSE IT'S SUPER CLUTCH: All Bosses can be disrupted (with psilencer, disruptor servo skull, Librarians Psychic Shriek), which in most cases enables you to 1-2 turn kill them. Early game you don't have access to Librarian, and Disruptor Skull might not drop, so for Craftworld Psilencer is your friend - Kadex fight gets really easy with psilencer, if you disrupt him, he doesn't teleport and create mirror images, just sits there for you to pwn him. EDIT: WARNING WALL OF TEXT CONTINUES: Most important thing for build based around range is having a tank - Early game that's a Justicar with maxed out Provoke Ability - Provoke forces even ranged enemies to walk up to you and try to melee you, so you can shoot'em a bunch, while provoker is tanking them (preferrably with something like stoic blade or any decent parry force sword + focus gem (Santic Shard) to bring parry up to 100% with tier 3 Santic Shard. Post Craftworld I prefer a Chaplain as a provoker, because he has +35% ranged crit for all knights litany ("Aura"). That being said ranged builds are subpar in this game and Purgator is great with 2 justicars and interceptor **early game**, until you get gear and some levels, at which point you will wanna swap it for an Apothecary (purely for +crit dmg buff for your interceptor), nothing in this game beats Interceptor specced in melee discipline with also taking Teleport Boost and Enduring Reflexes, then you sacrifice couple knights to get an extra wargear slot, pair that with extra wargear slot armour, and you can run crit %. crit dmg and focus gem all at once, add ion top of that a high crit/crit dmg weapon like weeping blade or a decent Falchions like Ogen's Edict and you will be killing bosses in 1 turn even on legendary (with 2 justicars and warp speed biomancy from apothecary), Just make sure to run disruptor servo skull once you phase out a psilencer purgator, Servo skull on ideally an apothecary and you become unstoppable ... to the point where it becomes boring and you start experimenting with different comps. Late game I recommend stun comps, if you get lucky and get Endbringer Halberd, it becomes only build capable of finishing entire maps in one turn (your movement phase, initiating combat which refunds AP, killing everything in that turn upon which your AP is refunded again, you move to activate next pod and so on and on). My ideal setup is Chaplain with litany of hate and grenade armour, apothecary with soulhammer storm bolter (has extra stun on psybolt) whose main job beside tossing stun nades is to cast Iron Arm biomancy for extra stun, melee purifier with grenade spec for more juicy stun nades and high dmg and my fourth is usually librarian with everything in WP so you can mass teleport around, most fun build in the game to play.

I always try and outfit my Purgators with the ability where if their fired upon they can fire back, and where if a brother fires at an enemy the purgator also fires at the same target, and I outfit them with the psilencer for damage and range.

Nice guide ty for your work ! Just one thing that may have been patched : Astral aim doesnt extract seeds, the UI shows like you can but you can't, aiming at the part with the seed symbol won't add a seed to your reserve sadly :)

Hurrah! Purgator is my favorite.

Yep, really solid class.

The arcane weapons buff will apply to all targets if you target someone who uses scattershot or an incinerator for their next attack.

That's good info, I hadn't thought of that. Does it also work if you have someone else using psychic onslaught with a Psycannon? Another Purgator or maybe a Justicar?

I need to start getting Killzone

Good assessment and a couple of things I'd not thought of. You definitely don't need Arcane Shot as I got by with but it is probably better than whatever I had! I think the crappy ammo ability works on AOE multiplying the effect. Not so useful since they stopped AOEs giving multiple willpower but not nothing. Still not worth it though! Purifiers are in fact the best Grenadiers but Purgators are fine and available sooner.

Thanks! I can see it being useful to pump up an AOE. Like I said in the video, if you're going to do it, go all the way with it. Then maybe you can pump up your ranged Interceptor with the Psilencer. He teleports to just the right place to line up his scattershot, then you buff him with warp-charged Arcane Ammo for another 6-8 damage on each hit, and he's putting out some good damage at that point. Might work.

I actually disagree with a few things in this, I found the auto reload to be a waste for a psilencer build and I don't find the purgator to be WP hungry at all. I tend to rely on crits for single target damage and grenades for AoE damage. With the 2 mag size increases, you're at 6 shots. With movement 1 action out of 3, it's 3 turns before you need to reload, maybe 4 with a grenade or another ability. I prefer to focus on raw damage for the purgator and leave WP to other classes like the librarian.

Yea I think this is my favorite class... too bad the assist fire ability is so trash, doing 2 damage or whatever, what a waste... Its a bit weird that the Interceptor has a much better version due to upgrades since almost all will build him for melee and maybe wont spend the extra skill points into that. So as I said I think this class is awesome, love it with the Psilencer personally, but it can be a bit weird when you realize many of the other Grey Knights are meant to be played Melee. Then you have to ask yourself if having a big range sniper/debuffer is efficient when you have 2 or 3 other guys that want to go into melee rather. So then you have to wonder what the best Team Comp is....

A Purgator can do fine up close, too, even with a Psilencer. If you position correctly, you should be able to get several enemies in a scattershot cone in most cases. Having extra range isn't a bad thing, even if you're in a melee-heavy squad. There will be cases where you've got a straggler or an enemy that's backing off, (Plauge marine falling back to heal himself, for instance), where you can get them with your Purgator without having to send your melee guys after him. They can stay in the thick of things while the Purgator is unleashing AOEs or picking off randoms.

@@JericsGamescape Yea that makes sense.. however I personally dont use Scattershot that much... its a very cool skill but it leaves you with empty barrel, has fixed damage and less customization options. Maybe I should use it more but my playstyle is different than yours, rather than teleporting in or moving in I often lure the enemies to me and even move back if I have to and pick them off from range. But I can definitely improve those tactics with something mixed. Sometimes its scary to dive in however.

All good, man. Everyone does things differently, and I'm not saying my way is better. It was just a thought on how he might fit in. :)
