So much hate in the comments. Maybe the reason he "het nie tyd vir sulke kak nie" is he's working 24/7 in a difficult high-stress job to grow the food we eat, and put food on his family's table. Some understanding is in order. The video's funny, it's possible to just enjoy it without spewing bile.

For who ever watche this video. UPDATE This prank is now 11 years old (give or take) and since then somethings have happend. since the prank has happend i heard alot of great stories and comments and also i got to meet the legend Whackhead Simpson in person one morning when i was close to the radio studio. But 4 1/2 years ago i sadly lost both my parents at the same time to the pandemic. and this radio prank is the only happy mamory i have about them. and im happy it brings joy to others in the world.

One day many years ago when the lights were still bright in Joubert Park in Hillbrow with all the fairytale stories made ..come true for all to see. these two drunk Englisg guys..as I walked out asked a Zulu watchman(he looked after the building with a knop kierrie) what the time is..well the Zulu gentleman didn't quite understand what they were asking...but they laughed at him. Laaag (LOL) Next moment this Madala (old man) stood up and whacked the one in front solid but not to hard lag again, pal he started staggering around, probeer dat die parkeermeter (parking meter) LOL wil sort of stabilise him, or bring some sort of establishment to his mind Loool. His equally obnoxious buddy took him away swaggering as they wented. The Zulu gentleman sat down as usual and didn't take notice. I felt very bad however come to think of it I shouldn't hve

+Louis Withfield Afrikaners are growing you mean, they get fatter every year, but Afrikaans the language is definitely dying. Here is a question for you, The Mayan civilization ended hundreds of years ago, there are still a few native speakers remaining in Mexico, but the language has been in a slow decline for centuries, want to guess which language between Mayan and Afrikaans has more native speaker? The answer is Mayan. So even a culture that ended like 400 years ago has more speakers than you do, well done.

+Luke Henderson You do not portray yourself as a loving individual. I have read what you've typed here and I must say that it's not really nice. Your mother tongue is something thats dear to you. It's because youre raised in that language and it feels like home. And you attack people on that. What does it matter where a language originates from? If your mother sang you to sleep in a certain language then that language is dear to your heart. And if you go around telling people that it's a wrong language and that their childhood language is dying out... Then you can expect some angry people. You are taunting them. And then you play as if youre smart and just and intelligent... While you are actually just teasing people and hurting them until they become enraged. And then you play as if you just want to have an intelligent conversation. But what you are actually doing, is bullying people and provoking their anger. And that is just wrong man...
@Chartoise
@Chartoise 9 жыл бұрын
Luke Henderson I have no horse in this race... And i'm black myself... I'm just saying youre taunting people into an angry response, by saying their language is dying. It hurts people... and this should be obvious... And not to mention that youre also wrong about the fact that Afrikaans is dying... It is simpy not true... So I figure youre just here to poke people. To make them angry... All because YOU have some issues with Afrikaans people and Dutch people.

+Chartoise As I read your comments over I passed through a range of emotions. First there was anger, then there was shame, then there was acceptance. With your stunning use of language and new age media you have taken a man and changed him. I now want to live in your world. One where giving someone a fact they don't like upsets them, and is therefore avoided. Never let it be said that we allowed freedom of speech to run rampant over our right, to not have our feelings hurt. Should we be faced with living in a world, where someone can say something I don't like, nay I tell thee sister, freedom of speech should only ever be used to make statements I agree with. I want to live in your world Chartoise, where simply saying something makes it true, just because I feel it in my gut. I really love The Big Bang, it will never end. If I keep saying it like a mantra, it will just be true. I want to live in your world Chartoise, where griefing one video means you hate two entirely different peoples.

Chartoise For once in your life Chartoise, you are probably right. I could probably adequately explain myself without making my head resemble a male reproductive organ, but where would the fun be in that? I do however love the 90's insult, classic! Haven't thought to use that one myself since my balls dropped. I apologise for getting my facts wrong, I thought you didn't want me to use facts if they upset people, now I see that I can use facts, provided I used them in a manner that you accept, how mean of me, I hope I haven't upset any delicate snowflakes. I'm a little confused as to the latter part of your comments. I thought I was taking myself further into "dickhead" territory, but your comments make it look like I'm trying to explain myself. My utmost apologies if this is how it came across. I was trying to say "I frankly couldn't care less about your opinion" but came across as "trying to talk myself out of this" which I alone think is an amazing skill when considering this is a text based discussion. Until you mentioned it Chartoise, I hadn't even considered that anyone was being racist towards me. But thinking it through, I can see how they might be threatened by my giant bulging dickhead. But I'm not truly concerned. It takes more than a few unhappy people to turn my smile upside down. Its called confidence, you should try it sometime, the world is a much better place when you grow a bit of a thick skin and stop allowing simple words to raise your blood pressure. I hope you have a nice life surrounding yourself with people who are nice and all agree and think the same way. It must be such a easy, safe life.

Jason Lee I’m starting the translation from 0:51 Just so you know, what makes this so funny is that Whackhead uses a ridiculous manner and accent when speaking Afrikaans and he translates the words directly from English to Afrikaans, so the words don’t make much sense because they’re in the wrong order and sometimes even a different translation. So any words used wrong in Afrikaans I will use wrong in English as well so that you get why they are laughing. Character list: D = The angry dad W = Whackhead S = The man’s son M = The mother S: Dad?! D: No I don’t want to talk at all. Tell him I’m not interested. I’m done! S: Dad, just talk to- D: No, I don’t want to. You talk. S: Dad! D: No, I’m not interested in talking. What is it?! What do they want? (Takes the phone) Hello?! W: Hello sir. How are you? D: No I’m fine. I am an Afrikaner. I can’t talk English. If you can’t talk Afrikaans to me then we should leave it. W: (Funny Afrikaans speech) Sir, I can talk in Afrikaans. I am two-languagable, completely! D: Okay then you must speak Afrikaans good. W: Okay sir. D: Okay. W: Okay how is it going, sir. D: No it’s going good and with you? W: No it goes very well with me, sir. D: Now where-wha-wha-what do you want to talk to me about and say to me or what? W: Uhhhh sir, I’m calling from DStv. D: Yeah? W: Yeah. For the least parking… from the costs that… stands out. D: Wha-what-what’s standing out? W: The thingies that… that asshole… has forgotten to… payments… with the changes… and then maybe become… from yesterday-day. What stands out is an ‘a mouth’ (amount) from ummm seventy-nine rand. Oh wait! Afrikaans! Ummm seventeen nine rand. D: Seventeen how much?! W: Seventeen nine rand. D: Seventeen nine rand? W: Yes. D: How much is that now? Seventy-seventee- is it seventeen and? W: Seventee nine. D: No I don’t understand your Afrikaans. Talk right. (Talks to wife) I don’t understand a damn thing that bastard is saying. I’m done. M: (Talks to husband) He’s talking Afrikaans but it’s not Afrikaans. D: What money is it for the tv? M: I can’t tell you. Ask him. D: Fuck it man. (Back on phone) Hello?! W: Hello sir, yes. D: What money is standing out? W: This thing is here… that is ummm should be finished… at this stage is burning. D: What the?! I-I Don’t know what you’re talking about cause I pay my tv licence every month. I don’t know what money is outstanding. W: Excuse me. I don’t understand. D: Son, you’re talking Afrikaans to me and saying you don’t understand. I don’t understand you either. Talk to my wife because I don’t know what’s going on. Let she explain it to me. W: What sort of Afrikaans? D: (Talks to wife) Take it. I don’t know. M: (To husband) Tell him goodbye. D: No man. I don’t know what the hell they’re talking about! (Laughing) D: (Unintelligible) Kill the fucking telephone! I’m done! Kill it! Kill the fucking telephone! They don’t understand me! I don’t understand them! Kill the fucking telephone! I understand fuck-all what they’re saying! W: Just talk to them. D: No man. I don’t want to! I don’t want to! W: Just talk. D: MAN I DON’T WANT TO! I DON’T WANT TO TALK TO THE FUCKING PEOPLE! Put down the phone. (Call stops) (Redials and the wife answers) (A lot of yelling which I’m too lazy to translate completely. I just do some of my favorites.) D: (To wife) Tell them I’m sorry but I don’t talk anymore! I’m a fucking boer (farmer) and I won’t talk to any fucking people that can’t understand me! (More shouting) M: You behave yourself! D: MAN I DON’T WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING! Fucking leave it alone! (Laughing and a conversation with the wife in English) W: Okay just hold on. (Calls out to her husband) Hennie! He says he just wants to tell you it’s a joke. D: I don’t want to talk to him! W: Just talk to him. D: (Takes phone) Hello! W: Hello uncle (mister)? Uncle, it’s just a joke. D: Yes but I’m a boer. I don’t have time for shit like this man. I’m a boer and I go to town only once a month, and if people want to talk some crap to me I just get fucking pissed off. W: Is my Afrikaans a little weak? D: Yes but you shouldn’t be making these jokes with me, I’m an old uncle (man) and I get mad. W: Sweet. Enjoy you’re night uncle (mister) D: Okay. Same there you hear. Okay bye. W: Okay bye. There you go. Most of it has been translated to the best of my abilities. Hope you enjoyed it :)

Voetsek. Some choose not to speak English. Especially old Afrikaners that still have memories of the Anglo-Boer war instilled in them by their forefathers. I happen to be able to speak that language on a high level only due to being forced as a language of business. Anders voel ek niks vir daardie taal nie.

Who cares, Afrikaans is a dying language, even when I was at school over 20 years ago Afrikaans parents were putting their children in English schools as they admitted Afrikaans has no future. It will forever be remembered as the language of the oppressors.

There are more native speakers of Afrikaans in South Africa than English :P Afrikaans is growing in South Africa actually, and is far from dying
@henderson482
@henderson482 9 жыл бұрын
tertrih I seriously doubt that fact. When you say native speaker I presume you mean "home language", in this case you might be right. But in terms of what the majority speak this would be English. Only 8% of the the 52 million population speak Afrikaans as a home language. Whereas just about everyone is SA speaks English. The only place I seem to see Afrikaans growing is in the squatter camps due to them no longer being a protected minority.
@brandonlouw8485
@brandonlouw8485 9 жыл бұрын
Luke Henderson Luke it seems that you are specifically targeting the Afrikaners and honestly I think you should keep your pessimistic remarks to yourself please. If, however, you had the smallest of an idea about what was really going on in South Africa in the present moment, "forever remembered as the language of the oppressors" would be a poor choice of words. Secondly, if you knew anything about history, England (therefore the language English) was in control of most of the world (anglo boer war b.t.w black and white fought together in that war), obviously it would then be the dominant language. English sadly has nothing to offer compared to Afrikaans or ANY African language for that matter. South Africa has a rich cultural diversity, still developing(just to add), which would answer why racism and discrimination is a common downfall for us, but it's not like any other country did better during their developing years. England oppressed many countries, Saudi Arabia oppresses woman of all races, BEE in South Africa oppresses all white males, Hitler LOL enough said. So please direct your hate speeches to your own language(whatever you prefer to speak in), you're discriminating against a nation at the moment, if you haven't noticed. Oh and you might want to check who did the first heart transplant, earth leakage test, nuclear research, world peace(mandela).
@brandonlouw8485
@brandonlouw8485 9 жыл бұрын
Luke Henderson Ok firstly Luke, you're missing the point entirely, so let my lay this one out for you. All afrikaans people aren't racist, that generalizing. How many afrikaners have you come to know, I guess around zero, unless those that you have come to meet gave you this poor impression of what it means to be an afrikaner. I'm not comparing afrikaner's crimes to those of the world, I was simply stating that all nations have their struggles and mistakes. If you got all your facts from school Luke, your foundations are questionable. Crimes against humanity hah!, you are the one to speak, arrogance! You mentioned 4 fully developed countries there, if you haven't noticed, South Africa is still under development, colonization was around 1600's and with the little we had in that short timespan, our forefathers shaped this country into what it is today (by forefathers I do include blacks, whites, indians and asians) and of course I'm not obliviously ignoring the fact that apartheid took a toll on our nation and that blood was shed on both sides, mistakes were made, but out of that the rainbow nation was born. Afrikaans isn't dutch Luke, why would you think that? Afrikaans constitutes out of different languages put together. Afrikaans, dutch and german have some resemblances and not to mention it was the english who kept the french at bay when the dutch left during the colonial age, so who knows, I'm no historian, but maybe we got some english in there as well . So by "we were a despised people", you are referring to what nation exactly, because afrikaans is a new language, created by people from different parts all over the globe, english(like you), german, dutch and what else crossed those borders some time 300 years ago. Who are to blame, because your people had children in South Africa, who taught their children the differences between right and wrong, clearly the origin of the mistake came from abroad, do you not agree? We are living in the present and there is no progression when procrastinating on the past, if you think afrikaners aren't the kind to be associated with, then it's your loss, but I must say, it was fun debating with you Luke, I sincerely hope you find peace with the afrikaner. Kind Regards
@henderson482

Brandon Louw Since you were mostly polite I feel the need to reciprocate. To honestly answer your question as to how many Afrikaans people I know I would have to say a lot. I grew up in Pietersburg where there is a large Afrikaans population. Now I do feel that MOST (not all) Afrikaans are racist, and why do I think this, because this is what they have led me to believe. Yes there may be a minority of you that speak well and are polite but the majority think they are gods gift to the earth. I also disagree with your language being "new" I can speak Afrikaans to a Dutch person and they understand me 100% because your language is a cheap knock off of theirs. I'm especially astounded that you do no know the Boer are Dutch descendants. Your view of history is distorted, the whole world had an embargo on SA due to Apartheid and the Afrikaans refused to allow the ANC to run in elections. I do not see this as the outside world influencing SA as you make out, this was purely Afrikaaners believing that they were the superior race. But mostly my final point is that you seem to have a chip on your shoulder, I made comments about the Afrikaans because this video was about Afrikaans, if it had been about Chinese then my comments would be about the Chinese, so get over it. Now stop white washing the past and admit that the Afrikaans have in the last hundred years been murders, thieves, racists, supremacists and a little self inflated to boot. Apologies and move on, but no you seem to paint some fairy picture that I have never seen in SA. I just think your a little sore since the Afrikaans started filling up all the squatter camps.
