@@themanwithnothingtolose LMAO! Wow, triggered much? It's not about being "woke." People throw that word around all the time. It's just that women don't always get the credit that we deserve, and people often assume it's a man doing something significant. The OP was just trying to be more specific. Furthermore, cameraMAN is not gender neutral, cameraPERSON is gender neutral.

I was on a medium-size sailboat once probably 200 miles offshore around Nova Scotia, and this happened. Good-size whale jumps out of the water with no warning whatsoever very close to the boat. It is fun and awe-inspiring, but it really reminds you how small you are out there, and how it's THEIR ocean.

Whales are extremely intelligent animals. Makes one wonder if that whale knew exactly what it was doing. To be that close to a boat like that without slamming into it is very curious.
@marks6663
@marks6663 2 жыл бұрын
of course it knew what it was doing. It was a whale tour boat. The captain brought the boat out there for that purpose because the whales perform out there. Notice he cut the engine, and the whale jumped. This is not a coincidence. The people were on the boat to see whales. And the captain brought the boat to where he predicted the whale would perform. And the whale is used to doing that.

I'm not expert but I think it's defensive behaviour. Boats make a tremendous amount of noise for animals that are used to communicate with sound over hundreds of miles. And this must be excruciatingly loud for sealife, as well as perhaps threatening to the pod.

@TheArsenalgunner28

Whales rarely hit ships. I mean whales have been reported to protect people before. Whales don’t want to jump onto a boat in the same way a human doesn’t want to cannonball onto a table...it’ll hurt 😂 only way is if the whale is unaware that the boat is there which is most unlikely but not impossible ofc, it’s only an animal just like us

Alex da Vinci Not if you go twice. You don't always see a full breach, but, depending on where the whales are and what time of the year, they can be a bit more playful. Hervey Bay in Queensland, Australia is famous as a kind of 'holiday' spot for southern Humpbacks.
