On January 18, 1955 The Three Stooges were only required to work one day in order to complete their next picture.

Keep in mind, this was before tv, and most people really didn't have any means to rewatch older shorts. Unless you went to the same theater multiple times in the same week, most people would never see any given short more than once. As such, most people back then usually wouldn't notice the stock footage from older shorts.

@Cousin It Don't feel too bad; my dad would regularly beat the everloving crap out of me when I was a boy growing up, but he doted on my sister, because I was the oldest child. Because of that, I have a mental disability; although he never admitted it, it came across like I was a big mistake, too. He & my mom have only two grandchildren, & after what I had done to me, I feel my parents don't deserve any more grandkids because I'm not going to repeat the same mistake & instill a fear of me into a child of my own.

A lot of these Columbia recycle jobs were one day shoots. Andy Clyde did it as well as Joe Besser. In Besser's case, he had a 10 short series where the last four shorts were a remake of the first four! It was simply Columbia saving money in a dying two reel market.

Columbia shorts chief Jules White was invariably under pressure to shave costs while still supplying a full slate of two-reelers to exhibitors, hence these 1- and 2-day wonders that wove a few minutes of new footage into reams of stock footage from earlier shorts. Even in those rather dark days, though, the boys were invariably "up" and engaged. I love Larry's delight with the various condiments.

Using old("stock")footage was common procedure by this point; The Stooges were the only part of Columbia's two-reelers still producing films by this point, & they were not as proditable as in past times.
