Lyrics
I would lock you up
But I could not bear to hear you
Screaming to be set free
I would chain you up
If I'd thought you'd swear
The only one that mattered was me, me, me
I would strap you up
But don't worry baby
You know I wouldn't hurt you 'less you wanted me to
It's too late to stop
Won't the heavens save me?
My daddy said the devil looks a lot like you
You take me to the edge of heaven
Tell me that my soul's forgiven
Hide you baby's eyes and we can...
You take me to the edge of heaven
One last time might be forever
When the passion dies -
It's just a matter of time before my heart is
Looking for a home
I'm like a maniac, at the end of the day
I'm like a doggie barking at your door
So come take me back to the place you stay
And maybe we can do it once more
You say I'm dangerous
But don't worry baby
I get excited at the things that you do
And there's a place for us in a dirty movie
'Cos no-one does it better than me and you
You take me to the edge of heaven
Tell me that my soul's forgiven
Hide your baby's eyes and we can...
You take me to the edge of heaven
One last time might be forever
Please don't tell me lies
It's just a matter of time before my heart is
Looking for a home
I ain't got no more worries
I'm gonna spend some times with you
Loving you takes such courage
And don't you think that I know it
You take me to the edge of heaven
You tell me that my soul's forgiven
Hide your baby's eyes and we can...
You take me to the edge of heaven
One last time might be forever
Don't you tell me lies, because believe me baby
One day you'll wake up on your own.
I ain't got no more worries
I ain't got no more time for you
Loving you takes such courage
Everyone's got their eyes on you
I ain't got no more worries
I ain't got no more time for you
Loving you takes such courage
And don't you think that I know it

One of the things that I loved about George was that even though he was clearly the star of Wham!, He always tried to stay close to Andrew on stage. Sharing the spotlight.

Never-the-less, I think George's stuff was always the best as part of Wham, he was never as good once he went solo. When I look at him here, so full of life, knowing that he'd still be with us today if he hadn't f*cked his life up. It makes me both sad and angry. 😥😡

Imagine being 23 , ridiculously handsome, extremely talented , money in the bank and bringing your hugely successful band to an end to pursue a solo career when you know how badly insecure you are and will not have your band partner to lean on as a crutch, to help take the attention away from yourself..but you do it anyway because your talent is too big and too great for Wham. I actually cried watching this go out on tv in 1986 as they were my favourite band , but less than a year later Faith was released. THANK YOU SO MUCH GEORGE..you’re an absolute legend and your music lives on

Agree with you Kevin Brown... but wouldn't it be awesome to ALSO have the Wham! and Yog videos & duets & maybe the best of the best interview snippetts. 💕 Miss George... Fame is such a beast... Was watching an interiew of him the other day & the sublime beauty of his joy 💕 ... anyones joy really ... & how he was so hounded by the media & how disrespectful they were to him. Horrible not to be able to walk down the street in peace !!! He had such a beautiful & sweet soul....makes me so sad... as ANYONE who had to experience that ~ would have been affected too. It just makes me wonder ...if he had been able to create a "Branson Missouri" concert venue in England & performed when he felt like it with out all the hassle of the travel & the interviewing & the selling of himself ...If it would have made a difference somehow. Elton, Adele, The Stones, Sting, Amy Winehouse & all the other English performers....make life a little easier for them all. This fame devouring people thru paparazzi, newspapers, magazines & interviewers, & all the fucking autographs - ( people - really ? ...wouldn't it just be nice to spend a moment with him & say - hey ....thank u for all the great music - u r loved & enjoy your day)... & the grouling touring schedules- this all has to stop ! Winehouse, Brittany Spears, Lady Gaga ... ( & Lady Di ) How many are going to be gound up and spit out ? ❤💕❤💕❤💕❤💕❤

While I of course think Michael Jackson was the better at this, George Michael was phenomenally gifted. This isn’t bashing in the slightest. Michael Jackson was just out of this universe good at it while George was just a ring or 2 below.

There isn't a comparison between Michael Jackson and George Michael. Michael Jackson was one dimensional, he could sing and dance. George was multi talented, wrote lyrics, took one note at a time and eventually formed a complete song. George also taught himself how to play numerous musical instrument, he had rhythm and could senusually move while singing. Again, simply no comparison. George Michael was the ulitmate super star.

I kinda wish Wham would've continued on, they looked so cool and handsome during the time of 'the edge of heaven', I actually think it's my favourite. And musically I think they still weren't done and over. Of course I love George's solo career, but I personally don't believe Wham had run its course at that point. Eh, still for the little time they were together, they gave us soo much.

I agree, wham ended prematurely. George could have given it a couple more years. In those two years we could have had more of these pop gems before he went on to the serious solo stuff. Such an amazing talent.

What a privilege it is to watch Wham! perform live. This was GM at the outset, before fame and drug use had become thoroughly out of control for him. Were things easier for him then? Maybe. This late musical genius was born to be a star, and he more than made good on it. I think he gave the world all he had to give, and at some point there was just no more to borrow. He died almost 8 years ago this Christmas, and I hope he rests in peace.❤

Most of these comments saying George, George, George but Andrew was the one that got George to basically become the guy people know and love. I feel bad that Andrew Ridgeley didnt get the recognition he deserved. I understand that George was the star but still. Even to this day with interviews with Andrew Ridgeley, all they ask him is about George. They never ask what hes doing or anything. "It must have been cold there in my shadow To never have sunlight on your face You were content to let me shine, that's your way You always walked a step behind So I was the one with all the glory While you were the one with all the strength"

Haha. Love the way George smiles at Andrew’s sheer audacity on the non guitar playing. Meanwhile, Andrew just styles it out and gets away with it because he’s so confident. Good times!

The crowd believed him and that's all that counts in the end. Music is just different, not about being the best but the most self-assured, sympathetic, convincing, popular. Although George, on the other hand, had it all. But he was a very rare species.

Jean Bean he wanted his music to be heard, he wanted to be a mega star, but he didn’t want the fame, nor the scrutiny that came with it. I am 100% that he would have been happy to just let his music do the talking and nothing else. Unfortunately that’s not the way it works though and he couldn’t cope with the spotlight. By leaving Wham it was the best thing and the worst thing he did.

If you're gay and brought up in an environment that is fairly homophobic, as pretty much everywhere was back then (and still is to a large extent), it leaves its mark. You hold back on everything because you're not sure how badly people are going to react to you.
