Is the analysis any different if the 3 discarded tiles are before or after riichi? After riichi a one chance could naturally form due to genbutsu, while before they are just unneeded tiles.

Yes, we can assume that tiles discarded as genbutsu after riichi means it is more definite that the players no longer has the tile to discard, otherwise it would be discarded. Based on this, we can extrapolate how much more dangerous will this be. From 2:50, the whole yellow section will be split between red and grey. So the deal in rate of 3 discarded one chance increase by around 10-15 percent (eg from 10 percent deal in to 11-11.5 percent)
