This video dropped at the perfect time :D Transistor really does throw you right in but you're picking up on things quick. I adore everything about this, _especially_ the music. One thing you'll notice is that the music feels dynamic. For instance it sometimes changes to a hummed version of the soundtrack when you enter planning mode. Details like that are what make the game one of my favorites. Well then, here are a few things you may find helpful. Gonna try not to dump too many things on you at once, lol. - In Turn Mode, instead of doing a single right-click to attack, try holding down right-click and move the mouse around. This will let you aim Functions more precisely so you can see what enemies you'll hit in realtime. - Try to go for backstabs whenever you can for extra damage. This just means attacking an enemy from behind. A good tactic for bigger enemies is to Jaunt right through them and stack backstabs. - Jaunt can be used while your Turn is recharging! - If for any reason you want to re-order your functions, go to the nearest Access Point and you can drag the slots at the bottom around to your preference.

These are amazing tips Tyler, thank you. I'm excited to get back into the game and test out some of these. Also think I'm going to give a controller attempt on the next recording, because I found out each attack can be mapped to a specific button - I think that will work much better for me, especially if I don't want to ONLY use Turn for my attacks.

Ah, there you go again, apologizing for getting excited. Excitement is great! I’m glad you’re already enjoying Transistor so much. Expanding on my earlier comment, I wasn’t a fan at first because I _love_ how The Kid feels to control - so quick, so smooth - and Red is ... not a fighter. Of course, that's intentional, as she's a singer, not one of the most skilled combatants in the land. I love the visual touch that the Transistor is so heavy that she just drags it around most of the time! It was only once I made peace with the slower, more deliberate style of gameplay that I really got hooked. (Incidentally, Hades’ combat is like Bastion’s, but even better). Nice Rucks impression 😄 Did you realize that Rucks and the sword are both voiced by the same man? In fact, Logan Cunningham has large voice roles in all of Supergiant's games. Someone certainly had fun with “very specific numbers” - the game is full of them. “Kills today: 1.” “Steps leading down: 36.” It certainly sounds very computer-y. You mentioned that some terms, like function, sound like computer programming; but the game is _full_ of them. Crash, of course. Breach, for unauthorized entry into a system. "Hello World," uttered by the sword early on, is a programmer's traditional very first program. "Empty Set" refers to Red's theater, but of course it's also a mathematical term. I'll stop there :) Here's a fun fact about the music: every area has 3 tracks playing at the same time - the instruments, the percussion, and the humming (which is usually muted). When you enter combat, the mix between the percussion and instruments is changed; and when you enter Turn() the mix changes again, adding humming as the primary element. I can only imagine that someone the team must have said "Hmm, we have a couple of (controller) buttons we're not using - what can we do with them?" and so, you have 2 buttons that serve no gameplay purpose but are just fun: the "flourish" button and the "hum" button, which just makes Red pose while she hums along with the current soundtrack. Transistor controls are a little weird. Personally, I prefer using a controller, because each of the 4 active slots gets mapped to a face button, so you don't have to switch back and forth. Especially when you're fighting in real time, ability swapping can be cumbersome. Of course, keyboard+mouse is going to give you better accuracy, so neither one is "right" or "wrong." Around 18:40, when you're facing the double checkpoint, you must have hit a bug. The way you're supposed to get past that is to use Turn() to hit both checkpoints at the same time. I'm glad you found the function bios early on and are trying to fill them out. Such a great way of making sure you try every function in different ways and don't let your loadout get stale. There's important info on the function details screen. Most functions are going to list how much (unmodified) damage it does and how much of your Turn() bar it consumes when you use it, and most functions are going to have other details as well; though some of the details are more subtle than I remembered. I'll point out a couple of particularly important things you haven't noticed: - Crash() (or functions you upgrade with it) inflict the _Crashed_ status on enemies. When enemies are Crashed, they take extra damage from _other_ weapons (you'll see the bonus Crashed damage listed on the Turn() summary). Spamming Crash() doesn’t get the bonus damage, but something like Crash() followed by Breach() can be a very potent combination, especially if you're also backstabbing. - Jaunt() is *extremely* important because _it's usable during Turn() recovery_ . When you can't attack and you're just running from enemies, you'll have much more success if you Jaunt() away from them instead of just running away. Alternatively, you can use it to upgrade any other function to work during Turn() recovery (and to fire immediately, remove all windup time and replacing it with wind down time instead). Alternatively-alternatively, you can upgrade Jaunt() itself with fun abilities to mess with enemies while you’re escaping from them. - Breach() is one of the only weapons capable of piercing barriers and other enemies, and as an upgrade it usually adds piercing. Most people do most of their combat with Turn(), and that’s totally fine, but real time combat can have its place too. Some enemies, like the Young Ladies, have ways of messing with your Turns; and being in real time can actually help when you’re almost out of health (for ... reasons). Well, that got rather long ... if you don't remember anything else from that wall of text, remember about Crashed status and Jaunt during recovery :)

Thank you, this list was very helpful. Also LOVED the information about the music and such. I noticed during editing, that any time I went into that freeze mode (is that talked Turn?), the humming would kick in. It got me wondering if that is supposed to be her voice we're hearing? Knowing the attacks get mapped to buttons with a controller, I think I'm totally going to try that on the next go... I would prefer that over the current method of wheel scrolling and/or keyboard numbers.

@@BenjamightGaming When you're planning a Turn with a controller, you can hold down the attack button to get a cursor; move it around with the stick, then let go to plan the attack exactly where you want it. You'll want to check out the controls to figure out what does what. It's safe - no spoilers in these controls.

@@BenjamightGaming Oh, and one more thing. When you step through a critical path doorway, assume it's one-way. Once you leave an area, that's usually it - even if you're still on the same map. There's no gameplay-significant content to miss out on, but you can miss OVC terminals and other stuff the sword will comment on. Most areas are structured as corridors, so you won't miss anything, but areas like where you found Junction Jan's can have things out of the way, in corners or behind buildings or what-have-you - though nothing is really "hidden."

One of my favorite games ever! Also, if you want when you've finished the playthrough, start a new game +! You don't have to play it, just start it and you'll be able to put this short "thing" that happens at the end of the last episode!

Interesting... I might have to boot that up to check it out, thanks for the tip Avery.

Now only one more of Supergiant's games is missing, since I believe you agreed Hades wouldn't really work all that well for a playthrough on the channel. Sadly the one that's missing, Pyre, is actually my favorite of their games xD

No worries Aro, I purchased both Hades & Pyre. :-)

18:38 This is what happens if you just keep interacting with the breakpoints instead of solving the puzzle! You're meant to use turn to press them both at the same time

Yeah, I definitely didn't pick up on that initially.

The only game from Supergiant Games I'm familiar with is Hades and this looks and feels so similar yet so different . I love it .

That's all of Superiant's games for you. They all have some similarities and a similar feel to them, but each of them is still incredibly unique.

This game is a total trip Alex - that's the best way I can describe it. I start to figure out the systems and story in coming episodes, but it really just throws you right into the mess of it in the beginning...lol.
