It's funny how in this video it looks like the longer you are vegan, the more "experienced" in cooking you get and you try more difficult dishes... which may be true during weekends or holidays but the truth is vegans who've been vegan for a long time and don't make their living out of cooking, their dishes get simpler as times goes by. It's great to experiment when you start out, look what fills you up, what's easy and fast to prepare on a daily basis and what meets all your caloric, macro AND micro nutrient needs. Don't be intimidated, usually the meals you prepare on a daily basis get more basic as time goes by :) Also, to the people who made the video, I love the initiative and I know that showing delicious food is important but we should also focus on health. For most people going vegan is hard because they don't end up meeting their caloric, macro and micro nutrient needs. It would've been awesome to show a breakdown of their meals as their whole day of eating because (and I might be wrong) I don't know if they are reaching their daily goals for macro and micro nutrients. However, seeing that info in the video would've been refreshing AND reasuring for people who might be interested in going vegan :)

Francesca Pessarelli I mean the midwest has more sort of cities than people give it credit for. I don’t know how big your town was but I already described my circumstance. My dad lives in a completely rural area and they don’t even have a vegetarian section at the only grocery store within 30 minutes of the town center. Things have been getting better for sure, but there’s definitely people with no easy access to these things
@merrybright57324 жыл бұрын
Francesca Pessarelli the midwest is a big place, it’s just easy to point to it as the land of long empty corn fields since that’s what it looks like to the world lol. Living near indianapolis or chicago is much different than living in the middle of nowhere farmland in terms of what you can find near you. I’m pretty lucky, I live in some mid-size suburbs and we’ve seen a big uptick in alternative food options recently. A health food store even opened near me last year, and more than half the food there is vegan! It’s cool how things are developing, but during my childhood I definitely wouldn’t have been able to scratch my fake meat itch if I went vegan.

Clinically we (UK) have an increased rate of insufficiency of the following nutrients: iron, vitamin D, zinc and co-enzyme Q10. Traditionally we also have had increased incidence of low B12 levels but raised awareness of taking B12 daily as a vegan has corrected the problem. Vegans no longer have an increased incidence of B12 deficiency. It is especially important for vegans to supplement. Though these nutritional issues can also occur in meat eaters and vegetarians, vegans are statistically at more risk. Deficiencies are very easily avoided though, and with supplements (which can be bought very cheaply in developed nations) it can be a great deal healthier than the western diet.

😂 what are your favorite meals?
@MagnumCarta3 жыл бұрын
@@patricianicole8628 Vegan of 7 years here. Here are some of my suggestions: Breakfast - Fried potatoes w/ onions and peppers. Bake the potato in a microwave using the baked potato option (DON'T forget to pierce the potato with a fork or it WILL explode in the microwave). Meanwhile saute onions in a skillet over medium heat with some vegetable oil for 5-6 minutes (until the onion becomes translucent and starts to brown), then add in your peppers and some garlic. Cook for 3-4 minutes, then gently remove the onions, peppers, and garlic from the oil. Dice up your potato and then add it to the pan. Cook for about 8-10 minutes and check one potato to see if it is brown. If so, flip your potatoes and cook for another 3-5 minutes. Add the onions, peppers, and garlic back in and gently mix. Then serve with ketchup and/or hot sauce. Lunch - Ramen w/ frozen vegetables. The Top Ramen soy sauce flavor and chili flavor are both vegan! I usually get the soy sauce flavor. It's in a blue wrapper. Cook as per the instructions and then add in some frozen veggies. Your choice which ones to go for but usually I'll go for frozen green beans, broccoli, and carrot. Cook for a few minutes just to heat up the veggies and then serve. If you can find some vegan potstickers like Ling Ling vegetable potstickers (they don't use eggs so this is vegan!), those are also great to add in. Dinner - Red lentil dal / masoor dal. So many recipes online for this so I won't detail it out in full detail but red lentils cook in about 20 minutes. They are filling and go great over rice. That's just a couple of simple vegan recipes that I routinely make that are filling and pretty nutritious. :)

I get my milk delivered by a local company, I get my veggies through Imperfect Foods, and I get my meat from a butcher that sources from local, grass-fed farms. The solution to fixing the meat industry isn't everyone going vegan, it's just everyone learning not to buy their food from Tyson, although respect to the people who are willing to fully commit to a vegan diet. A lot of people miss the point of what Veganism is all about. Not only should we be vegan, we should start working towards finding ways to take nice creatures out of torment because it's an act of kindness and a display of our character. Those who embrace torture usually end up being tortured. Those who embrace love will inherit it. It's a choice of how you wish to be treated. In addition to being a vegan, I always want to try to find ways to take these creatures out of torment. When I saved my dog from being ran over by a semi, and then I took him in and gave him a home, that was an act of love. All of my life, I've owned dogs. When I was a small child, I had a dog that actually did save my life. She was so beautiful and I still miss her. I don't embrace any hate because I choose love instead! This is the message that all vegans should be sending. The evil ones interpret that as us saying that we're sacrifices for them, but we should never be. We should defend ourselves intelligently as an act of protest against something or someone harming us. We are NOT sacrifices, but we ARE beings who choose love INSTEAD of hate. This is the message I want to send with the way I live my life! NEVER view yourself as being a sacrifice for anyone or anything because that gets us no place! Instead, defend yourself when it is necessary, but never be an aggressor. We're NOT sacrifices. We are objectors who only embrace love!

They are comparing the Extreme ends of the spectrum. If you want the thumbnail to look attractive, you don't put the middle. I have seen some people call it racism and it's ridiculous

@@perlag304 his recipes were horrible nutritionally speaking. He will not last long term vegan if he does not include beans and more fats in his diet.. AND I AM ONLY POSTING THIS BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT VEGANISM LONG TERM. I know my comment seems unrelated but it is a response to his recipes looking more practical. The OP also said his recipes better suit them and that is concerning for me. These comments can influence and make people think it is OK to eat like this daily and it is definitely not. You don't have to trust me research vegan nutrition with a long term registered dietician. Not a doctor who wants to sell books on potatoes or some vegan youtuber who has created a recipe book based on a diet for profit not on overall nutrition. Thanks!!!

Every adult, vegan or not, should know how to cook three meals a day. Obviously you don't have to cook every meal every day, and I get that you can be busy, but you should know how.

Vegans can't eat mushrooms.. they're neither animal nor vegetable. They're in-between on their own evolutionary branch. Hence them being "semi-alive"...

Personally I think it’s better to consume a good dose of protein every day as a vegan. He could’ve put vegan protein to the shake. It’s okay as long as they’re individually okay with their health and energy.
