What A blinking D or Flashing Drive light Means

Okay in this video I will explain what a flashing d means on your shift indicator and what you should do to fix it.
If you have a flashing D on your shift indicator that typically means you have a transmission problem and you will need to get it scanned for diagnostic trouble codes.

The Blinking "D" happened on my Element ...Said that same 3rd gear part .... I disconnected the wire and reconnected it ...The code went away and has not come back 2? years now ... Many of these sensors etc. run on low DC voltage and must have good connections ...It's a miracle they work at all ...

Thank you! This happened to me this morning and I freaked out. I honestly didn’t know a scan tool would read this type of error; I thought it would only read a “check engine” light. Of course, when I hooked up the scanner, the code wasn’t there when I turned the car back on. But now I know what to do.

Seriously tho...dirty didn't effect the fuse boxes, transmission, engine, or electrical. Yeah it's easy to judge that a dirty car means someone doesn't attend to the oil every 3 or 5 g's or pay attention when dash icons light up. As a mechanic I could testify THERE'S NOTHING further from the truth. I've seen too many dollars spent on detailing that by all rights should've gone into brakes and oil changes that I gotta comment.

Its not dangerous. Sometimes you have to clear it with the code reader that he got. I had a flashing D years ago, i cleared the code and 3 years later it came back again. If u clear it and days or months later its acting up again then its time to have a mechanic look at it just to be safe.

You might have to scan for any codes and clear them. If not go to a mechanic. It could be serious with transmission.

This is happening on my 2011 Honda Accord, but the "D" blinked for a while like a couple weeks back, then stopped, then started again but isn't blinking now. I made an appointment but am hearing that it's possible that if it's not blinking the code won't be stored, so I'm thinking of temporarily cancelling. Very hard to say, flashing do doent always meen the same thing, worst-case transmission needs to be replaced 2500$ or more. best case 100$ for a new sensor.

Dont worry, it is usually a pressure sensor or switch located outside the transmission.. It could be the second or third pressure switch. It is very common for these to go bad on hondas.. These sensor send an electric signal to the ECU or computer and they open and close to help build pressure in the transmission. Transmission needs proper pressure for the fluid to circulate inside. Also, transmission. selonoids. I had the same problem on my 2013 honda civic with a code of PO843 . for the second pressure switch.

John Botero you’re absolutely correct. I had my check engine light come on, and my drive light was blinking. I went to AutoZone today for them to do a diagnosis . Got the code PO847 3rd Pressure SW Circuit Low. Order the transmission our pressure switch today, and should have it tomorrow. PO847 code definition- Indicates that Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch B electrical circuit signal had a low voltage for a predetermined period of time.

Just Change the 3rd & 4th pressure switch and the speed sensor I had blinking d and it wouldn’t shift into gears or into park also if I stop at red light it wouldn’t shift or drive just rev ,found out since I did put a new tran in it the old sensors went bad so that fixed my probs

Sounds like a leak. Park your car over a sheet of paper (maybe several, taped together) under the tranny overnight, see if there are drops on the paper in the morning.

You can't pull it up on the check engine you have to get it checked from the transmission computer

If it comes on once and never show up again you should be fine. Its probably a nuisance alarm. But if its showing up more than often then it is a problem. And should probably be looked at and maybe fixed

I have honda pilot 2013 and i get echeck done and next day my engine light turn on solid i was worried because i have to drive long distance next day so i bring my car to honda dealer right away ( also checking online and start calling some other repair shops too ..few peopels told that might b because of gass tank cover not closed properly i check right away and yes i was not completely tight so i re closed and restart car engine light still there but i notice when i was driving d gare light was blinging ) i did told delar that's might b the reson sales manager said oh if that's is it u still need to remove that code and have to pay for it 115$ if took 1/2hour 55$ i said go a head she came back and in 20 min hardly and said 115$ ur charge u have to pay and we got code 0847 same as ur and digonest same 3rd switch seconcer need to replaced and change transmation flued total est 460$ ) can u pls tell if that's fair pricing ? Also just today i seen engine light is gone now its bin (am honestly not bleaving what she said because her behavior not good at all ) pls replay asap

Sana Fatima They're charging too much, if you can wach videos on syphen your own transmission oil out it only cost $10 at autozone for the syphener and $21 for tans oil. The switches usualy less than $100 if take off left front wheel u can switch it out with a wrench you can do it and save $400 or stay ignorant ans give your money away.
