Businesses will always need cash. Recently I was in a town that experienced a power outage. No POS system was working so, cash was the only way to operate. This happens often enough to never eliminate cash.

Some food spots are cash only, even going to some beach bars during the summer are cash only. I always pay with a card if I can, but I do keep small amount of cash on me. But even going out to eat with friends, someone pays the bill with a card and we venmo/paypal them the money.

I always look forward to your videos. They're informative and funny! There are certain things that I pay cash for (my mechanic and my hair stylist come to mind) because I don't want them to incur the cost of credit card fees. They are small businesses and seem to get taxed and fee'd to death. I also have several friends that actually get their pay checks in check form. They said they actually like the feeling of gong to the bank and either cashing their check or depositing into their account - they feel like they are seeing the money they have earned. A cashless society would affect a lot of people in ways we don't even realize. Kinda scary though to think of leaving our finances in the government's hand when they have trouble managing their own budgets. Just thinking out loud...lol

@@Username_CC_ it's interesting that your mind goes to tax evasion first. Do people evade taxes? Sure, happens a lot. Do rural small business and farmers who use cash and checks evade taxes? I'm not confident of that conclusion. Businesses that use digital currency evade taxes too, they just do it differently. Most small businesses in my area will not come to your house with a card scanner. They usually want a check, or they prefer cash. They wouldn't ever deal with PayPal, venmo or apple pay.

I was thinking about how the US dollar won't be the world reserve currency soon, if it already isn't. Anyway there was a great video made by the channel Valuetainment - he gave the history of world reserve currencies. Paper currencies only last about 100 years. There have been 6 previous world reserve currencies. The value of our dollar is already down, but will it really become worthless if/when BRICS takes over? Not sure. If the US dollar value plummets, we will lose a lot of our retirement values, and my emergency fund could be worth half what it is today, or even less. We could end up seeing hyperinflation. And I know for sure our wages will not be raised to match. We need to keep staying out of debt, and not buying cars. If you have a car that's paid off, keep driving it. Live a frugal lifestyle, stay on your budget, do cheap/free things for fun. Staying out of debt is really hard but so worth it.

Yeah, wait until a weather emergency with no power. Try to used your digital currency to buy stuff that is essentials. Or the news about bank in China doesn't return your money in their care. I do use debt card they always charge you service fee. Or credit card charge you interest on your purchase. Using your own money from a bank or third party business loan. The bank doesn't really care about their customers they own care about profits.

"The US still values personal freedom" ...Sure it does as long as you have the "correct" opinion. I think we will see it used for control more than anything else. For example, the government could put limits on what you buy by category. You have bought your meat allotment for the month so your currency will no longer work for meat purchases. The government needs to stimulate the economy but too many citizens are saving towards their future? No problem, just put expiration dates on the currency.

Some examples might be transfers between your bank accounts at different banks, ACH payments to pay utilities, etc. still take a couple of business days, they're not instant because it's still older standards. Cash App, Venmo, and the like are digital wallets. The money is in their system, but you can transfer it to your bank account (through an ACH which may take a day or two). Even credit card and debit card transactions are not really instant. Takes a day or two for them to completely settle, and they still only settle on business days for some reason.

In my opinion, a cashless company with a digital currency would not be very different from the current one. A little less evasion, more comfortable payments... in the end, the only ones who really lose out in a democracy would be those who evade taxes and the counterfeiters. Moreover, money already today cannot be exchanged on sight for gold (at least it is no longer written on banknotes, which is different from buying gold). Which means that the value we give to money today is all due to trust in the stability of the system. In short, if one doesn't trust the system ,maybe shouldn't even trust cash, at most only physical gold. Which means that physical gold will always remain an effective way of storing value (regardless of physical or virtual currency). And no, I'm not advising you to invest in gold, I'm just saying that the abolition of banknotes would not change the current system substantially, because cash already has only a symbolic value. And in a system based entirely on trust, it is essential to avoid trusting those who invest in crypto. The central banking system is not perfect but it has at least a minimum of safeguards. Furthermore, the crypto transaction system (especially for those who use proof of work) is very inefficient (while for those who use the proof of stake system, in fact, few entities replace the central bank, so it makes no sense to trust a few private individuals against the central bank). Sepa instant transfer and the new Fed system actually already allow money to be transferred instantly and the fees (at least here) are practically non-existent (and even when they do exist they are far lower than in the crypto system). This should make it clear that the crypto system is really expensive and unreliable for a currency, and that's why a cashless society is not to be feared, provided it does not derive from anarchy in monetary terms

Its Prophesied in the Bible... Rev 13.16-18 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. 18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.
