Funny thing about the Armin scene is that we've seen it before. Remember way, WAY back in season 1? When Armin faced down a bunch of cannons trying to convince them that Eren was not a monster but an all ally to humanity? And in the end he once again was staring down guns trying to convince people that they are not threats but humans just like them

That is a great point! Armin has been here before. We LOVED that episode back in season 1 and was one of our fav episodes to react to. I hate to think that because Mueller ended up distrusting the Eldians (because they all turned into Titans, he must have thought it was some type of set up) so he couldn't vouch for them 100% in the aftermath of the Battle of Heaven and Earth.

Remember the paths are outisde time and space, so Mikasa's "dream" about being with Eren actually did happen. And these visits can literally seem like years in the paths but can be seconds in real life. They did spent the rest of his 4 years in an alternate timeline in the paths. By the way he visited his friends, he also saved that special one to be with Mikasa in peace. Ackerman's also cannot easily be controlled by the founders power, hence her headaches started worsening as you noticed; because she was getting her memories with Eren back. That's why right after remembering her alternate life, she got the final resolve to kill him...especially because "I hate you" actually weren't Eren's last words.

Oh yeahh good points! I always forget that
@Cripplified
@Cripplified 11 ай бұрын
Exactly. Mikasa as an Ackermann was having headaches because the founding power was trying to erase memories or alter memories. It's an easter egg that's been hinted at since the Ackermann history was explained. This is the culmination of Mikasa having conflicting realities that the Founder can't have people living with, people can't handle multiple true realities and timelines in their brain. It's also what broke Eren. He saw his own future through the past, meaning he knows he gets the power of the founder, and boom. There's no longer any past, present or future for him. He's simply seeing what is and what will be, and knows that he is equally as influential as Ymir herself with how he use that power.
@BAUScoupleReacts
@BAUScoupleReacts 11 ай бұрын
Oh wow that's crazy to think about and it def makes sense! The headaches and everything make more sense now! I wonder how Eren was able to keep those memories from Mikasa if they are immune to mind* wipes. We were hoping they would have touched on what makes the Ackermans so different from everybody else. It is nice though that they had the alternate timeline together to see what life was like running away together
@Cripplified
@Cripplified 11 ай бұрын
@@BAUScoupleReacts I think it's because in the timeline we watched and experienced as a viewer, Eren doesn't bring Mikasa into paths to live the alternate timeline until she's on Falco's back going to kill him. So her headaches were always kinda a memory of different world paths, where time doesn't exist. Somehow Ackermanns are connected differently with the founder and paths than other Eldians. Mikasa couldn't have the full memory of the alternate paths/timelines, because in that timeline she only gets shown them at that moment that Eren brings her into paths to show her it's okay to kill him and that she needs to live for herself.
@BAUScoupleReacts
@BAUScoupleReacts 11 ай бұрын
Yeah that's what we were thinking, he must have showed it to her at that exact point in time (or lives it at that specific point in time) and not a previous memory that had been wiped. Trippy stuff to wrap your mind around! Thanks for the explanation!

The way we took it, Mikasa smiled AND then killed him, because they BOTH already knew what was up😂 She was also just happy to see him one last time tbf (+ right after remembering living with him for 4 years!), he wanted to look at her one last time as well. I personally foud that kiss tragically beautiful as well. It was like the kiss of death. And i dont think there was any time to "kiss him" before killing him lol...the literal world was ending and they probably kissed enough in the paths😂😂 Still bittersweet as they could realistically NEVER be together if you think about it; either way he only had 4 years left, and she was always going to have to learn to live without him. It was destined to be doomed. You gotta view the kiss in almost a metaphorical or poetic perspective; especially with the view of Ymir smiling in the back was a powerful shot.
@BAUScoupleReacts

Yeah we know there was no time for a kiss, just us being silly 😂 but yes the moment was beautiful and was pivotal in stopping this generational curse. They really we're doomed from the start sadly! Either way, she had to learn to live without him 😭

The only way to explain how future Eren was able to control Dina Fritz' titan and sent it to young Eren's mom and not Berthold is like it's a "Merry go round" where everything goes full circle. He can be at any given point in time having the power of the founding titan. His future self can leave "clues" or "influence" previous owners if the founding titan. It's not like "young Eren should not be able to control Dina Fritz' Titan because he does not have the Founding Titan powers yet". It is more like "Eren already has got the founding titan powers so he can now control what happens in the past". Try to think this way: AOT story season 1 episode 1 started with adult Eren getting founding titan powers. I hope that makes sense

I love Zeke building sandcastles during what is essentially the end of the world. He's so iconic. One of my favorite characters to be honest. I absolutely love the moment of Armin saying thank you to Eren and it cuts to Eren looking shocked because it feels very reminiscent of Mikasa thanking Eren for wrapping her scarf. Both Armin and Mikasa thanked Eren for helping them and showed him appreciation when he thought he was worthless. They told him that he was worth something. That he didn't have to ever share that burden alone. After all these years, it's finally over. We are free. Goodbye to all of the amazing characters from this story, both alive and dead. Goodbye Armin and Mikasa. And to Eren, the boy who sought freedom, goodbye. Thank you, Isayama.

35:00 - What you're describing is "The Bootstrap Paradox", where altering something in the past is a requirement for itself. Similar to how Eren ends up with his powers because he influence his dad using those powers. At this point I've learned to just hand-wave this most of the time. Authors seem to think it's a really cool twist when characters have that "It was me/us all along!" moment as they realize they're the cause of various events they've already experienced and now have to do whatever will cause those things to happen, despite the paradox. Prisoner of Azkaban is also guilty of this. Also, I find it funny how people are grossed out by the kiss, but were probably fine with every instance of a character kissing someone at the moment they die from a knife or gunshot wound.

It was not for nothing. They managed to have era of peace for a pretty long time. Peace is not a situation where there is 0 conflict. It's a situation where the conflict is handled well and suppressed to it's minimum. One day, this supressed conflict will explode and becaome a destructive conflict. Just look at our world. After world war ends, bloodshed still happening to today. However, that doesn't mean it's not worth to fight for peace. We fight for peace so we can experience those little precious moments that Zeke amd Armin discussed. Giving chance for those to experience those little things. Hence why, children of the forest is such an important message. We keep our children safe and guide them until they out of the forest to the real world, the bigger forest. The children we guided will inheret our cause to fight for peace. So the moment, the new next dictator or crazy maniac appears, there will be force ready to stop them. And this will repeats again and again.

Fun fact : 1. At this minute 28:39 , Eren and Mikasa spent 4 years living together (it was a gift to them from Ymir) 2. Eren didn't open his eyes during rumbling, he opened his eyes in his last breath just to see Mikasa. 3. 30:22 If you beheaded someone, they can still feel something for about 20s before they completely die so basically Eren definitely felt that kiss. 4. Mikasa wrote, “Here forever rest peacefully, my most beloved, my dear. 854" on Eren's tombstone. 5. The Ackerman clan will take off the bandages when they do married/had children, when Mikasa died, it was shown that the bandage on her hand was still there. 6. In the hands of Mikasa's body when she died there were white flowers, they were white lilies, white lilies symbolize purity/dying as a virgin. 7. In the end credits where Eren and Mikasa are buried, an old man Armin still visits their graves, he is the last person to die of the three, just like when they were children running to the tree, he was the last one to reach the tree.

We are saying prior to the vow against war, which to our understanding has only been in effect for the last 100 years, why hasn't a previous founding titan exercised this level of power over the timeline or at the very least influenced events to prevent this type of thing? I guess because they haven't had the knowledge or will to do it?
@chlsfd

@@BAUScoupleReactsremember his dad who first witness the cruelty of the world? eren said "you started this story didn't you, dad?" kruger even said to grisha "i chose you because your rage was enough to burn the world into ashes" smth like that. and he said to grisha "build a family, love them, if you can't, history will repeat itself" so eren could be born. so it was all doomed for eren to happen. note that eren isn't time traveling or going back to past to change future. the future already happened and eren determined all that. the future can't be change. his future self just influenced the events at the same time it occurs through his dad's memories as shown in the memories of the future episode. the founding titan powers just have effects of having no past and future. but the attack titan can have glimpse or can influence events thru the predecessor's memories. since eren's the last attack titan, he's the one who can influence them. if the founding titan's inheritors were doomed to king fritz ideology, all attack titan inheritors were doomed to eren's will

When the Erin gets the Founding Titan, time is irrelevant, it is always happening at the same exact time in his head. This means that from that point, Erin can influence both the past and the future since it is all happening at the same time. Regarding as to why the Founding Titan didn't do this before, the Founding Titan has been being passed down from royal blood, making the will of the first King activate and being bound to him. Erin is the first person to have the Founding Titan without royal blood and therefore not bound to the First King's will. This whole plot is reliant on the theory that everything is happening at the same time, our future selves are living life while we are in the present.

You had a long dialogue about the "How did eren do something in the past from the future (Killing his mom)" but you are looking at it wrong. Eren said he SENT the titan to his mom, which means hes not currently right now sending the titan to kill his mom because everything ISN'T just happening at the same time, INSTEAD, he exists endlessly at every point in time through the attack and founding titan. Which means hes gotten the chance to shape his own past from the future as he sees fit. Imagine a god overlooking a timeline that already exists and can turn left to change something then turn right to see what the outcome is without changing himself since hes removed from the timeline entirely. From where im watching (Around 36:00) you are still assuming Eren is the body he grew up in but at this point hes just living in the body he 3rd person chose to form at any point in his life. I know, very wild but thats the best I can explain without neurolink with years of loving time dilution content under my belt.
@BAUScoupleReacts

Thanks for the explanation! We came to the understanding that Eren with the founding titan and attack titan exists at every point in time, it was more so how did he DIRECTLY influence Dina to bypass Bert and go after his mom? Like does he just have unilateral control over ALL Subjects of Ymir and can control them all (besides the Ackermans) as if he has a remote control? Or was it a mental influence? Which would be hard considering that she is a mindless titan at this point and shouldn't be too capable of conscious thought.
