Here’s another tip: you don’t need to fill that giant planter full of soil to the bottom. Throw in a bunch of empty plastic jugs - 2 liter soda bottles are perfect - and then just pour in about 6 to 8 inches of soil (check online what you’re growing to see what is a mature plant’s root depth requirement). Way less soil required… and the planter won’t kill your back when you’re trying to move it!
@amber_Forever163 ай бұрын
You can also use cotton balls, roots can grow through them easily, you could grow cucumbers or any type of vine vegetables in it and layer the cotton balls with soil, so you'll use much less soil and the vegetables will grow like crazy with that deep of a planter! I did this with all my planter vegetables this year because I had gotten free giant cotton balls and wanted to save money lol😂I did an experiment at first with tomato plants and used layered cotton and soil and one with just soil and the one with cotton grew way way bigger faster! I think it's because the roots get more oxygen, idk 🤷♀️ sorry for the book😂
@CarolynneBurkey3 ай бұрын
I did that, and during a bad storm, the planters were blown into our pool. What a mess. I’ll opt for weight in that planter🤭
@jenniferp46123 ай бұрын
Can also use leaves and sticks for a more nature friendly fill. That way the plastic doesn't seep into the soil, which will seep into the plants
