What a milestone! - I just signed up for HELIFEST 2025 Competition

This year, I will be aiming to compete at Helifest, an RC helicopter competition in the UK. To begin working towards that goal, I headed out for some much need practice, and my first flights of the year.

RC helicopters seem like toys, but they are not. Experience, knowledge and expertise are all required to do this hobby safely! You must be aware of and obey regulations and rules. Safety first. NEVER DO THIS ON YOUR OWN!

Wow congratulations, Toncsi!! Thats a real milstone and a very brave one!! These flights were incredible! You have made a huge progress in the meantime! I am speechless! I was once flying in public in horrible wind on a Warbirds Plane meeting. 50 seasoned pilots were watching how I was flying my M4 after they had packed their planes because of this wind... I had it just a couple of days... and my left thumb was shaking so much because of exitement. Thankfully only in the tail yaw direction, not the Collective pitch. I would be too nervous for this but for you asa promising young pilot this is great!! I wish you a great preparation time and cross my fingers!!

Unfortunately, the RS5 wasnt mine. It belongs to another pilot here in the UK, so when it released, he gave me the chance to try the model. :)

It's so cold the parts have swelled so they won't fit now. Warm up in car first

Cold fingers=crashes. Get a toddler size down feather jacket cover to create a warm "bubble" over your hands and tx, but allow your harness to thread through. Also, don't even bother wearing gloves because it affect your finger coordination. Good luck "tournament" flyer.

Here in the UK, many of us tend to use USB hand warmers, however I thought it was warmer then it actually was so I hadnt brought anything to help. I did purposefully cut flights short, to 2.5 mins to avoid crashing.

What size motor are you running in the xl , and i noticed your running a 6s pack am i correct?

Yes, the batteries are the 5000mAh, 6s ManiaX ones. As for the motor, it is an Egodrift Tengu 4030HT, if I remember correctly, but I'm not 100% sure.
