Fierceness is probably the best 3 yr old, especially right now, his last 2 races have shown the ability that made him the DERBY fave. I guess it's on to the BC Classic now. TA is an excellent filly, and she will likely be back against the boys in the BC Classic. But anyone claiming she was the best horse in the race today and would have won with a better trip is talking nonsense! She got beat by the better horse plain and simple. Fierceness conceded 5 pounds to her today, and was 3-4 wide around the 1st turn and 3 wide around the 2nd turn, while TA hugged the rail. Fierceness was simply the best animal in this race despite some clowns trying to claim TA would have beaten him with a better trip. Great race, and yes, the best animal in the race won! His name is Fierceness! 😀

@@ivanboesky1520 Hey -- I'm American so I know City of Troy's background. Coolmore came to the US to get the best sire. But he's never been tested on dirt. Think Giant's Causeway losing to Tiznow in 2000, and Galileo coming in 6th in 2001. They both had American sires, so nothing is for certain. Aidan has already said he's going to test City of Troy on dirt. He wants a win, not a 3rd loss!

Torpedo Ana ran the best race in the Travers. She made up a ton of ground to catch Fierceness at the wire. Fierceness may not be a true distance horse and was all out to hold on to the lead at the end.

Sierra Leone also ran his nuts off yet again, especially with the way that track was playing. His running style just gets him into too much trouble against the best company. Too much to do late when the pace isn’t overwhelming. Took a TON of public money yet again as I expected and was the clear favorite AGAIN. He really is the most talented of all the runners, but his style brings him in just short of victory. He’s a real enigma.

I told my friends this morning I had no idea why everyone was claiming the pace would be swift. There was no horse in this race that really needed the lead, but Batten Down and he is not a super fast horse. Handicappers saw something there that did not exist. Told my friends that Fiercrness had been training great and the 8 post was a perfect post to track BD, Dornoch and TA from. Fierceness was just galloping down the backstretch until it was time to run. 4-1 was a joke gift on him. 😀

Fierceness gave up at least 5-6 lengths of ground loss around both turns racing outside of horses while she hugged the rail around both turns. That’s reality! He also gave a 5 pound weight advantage that over 1 1:4 miles probably translates into another 1-2 length advantage. Those are the only reasons she was that close to him at the end. And likewise, using your logic, if the race had been just a bit shorter he’d have beaten her by 1-2 lengths. So what? All that matters is where you are at the finish. Everything else is woulda, coulda , shoulda. TA is a very nice filly, but the best horse in this race won. His name is Fierceness. End of story. 😀

She would have won if Velazquez maintains his line. Anna was closing hard on the final furlong. If you look at overhead shots and front shots, Velazquez clearly directs Fierceness into Anna’s path pushing her stride and momentum to the right. She lost by a neck. Without that interference, she wins that race. Some might call it aggressive racing, but these horses are not disposable and racing like that should be frowned upon on a straight line to the finish.

Fierceness won by the skin of his teeth Torpedo Anna had every right to win the race as she had plenty petrol in the tank they will meet again and the result will reverse jockey Hernandez lost ground leaving the rails going to the outside to make his bid so sad for the filly as I said the filly will make the colts look silly it was just a hair breath away I know SL needs twelve furlongs to be effective he will win but the likes of the three horses that conquer him are absent end of story

It was a great race and I have a ton of respect for TA! Great filly and she will be a serious threat in the BC Classic if she goes. But the best horse won this race, and I can’t stand it when fans claim their losing horse would have won with a better trip, while simultaneously ignoring the trip advantages she had over other horses like hugging the rail while they are 3-4 wide around both turns and losing multiple lengths to ground loss. 😀

In this She broke beautifully and he pull her back on the rail to 4th and let a key rival (fierceness) sit on her outside boxing her in and giving away first run. @@vincnet1982I’ve watched all of her races. She was racing against the boys at a longer distance. Her previous races had much inferior fields. She does not have Fierceness’s turn of foot and gave it everything she has. She definitely has a good turn of foot, even a great one, but it’s not going to look as good against a horse like Fierceness. He won because he was able to spurt away from the field early once they straightened out. You can clearly see when he does it. She still almost ran him down and she likely has better stamina. She might would have gotten him had the race been a little longer. She had a beautiful ground saving trip on the rail. The jockey did everything right. She just ran into another champion. Fierceness had the widest trip of all of them throughout the race. She also broke from the one hole. There was not very much that could be done about that.

The speed horse was slowing down in front of her, and her jockey was not sure he would be able to get through on the rail. He had to make a quick decision about whether to wait for a hole to open up, or go wide. Not really his fault that the speed collapsed in front of her. And most horses that are on the lead going a mile and a quarter are not going to be the one that is in first at the end. Not really a poor ride, he just didn't get the break he needed to take her up the rail.

I guess we will find out on the 2nd of November where Europe will once again send over a decent string of horses at the end of a long season to take on the best the US have to offer. I imagine 5 wins will be the aim again for European horses just like last year. They might even take home the Classic as well just for the fun of it.

If fierceness was consistent, I would love this victory but thorpedo Anna had a chance to make history and to see it ruined by a kentucky derby favorite that did nothing in that race hurts me.

She got beat by the better horse plain and simple. And the horses Fierceness has beaten in his 3 grade 1 wins and his grade 2 win are worlds better than any filly TA has ever beaten. That is reality! Fierceness conceded 5 pounds to her, and was 3-4 wide around the 1st turn and 3 wide around the 2nd turn while TA hugged the rail. Fierceness was simply the best animal in this race despite some clowns trying to claim TA would have beaten him with a better trip.

@ivanboesky1520 Anna has destroyed the fillies not just beat them. She's the better horse. Hopefully Mcpeek gives her another chance against the guys at the BC. Also the rail isn't always the trip you want. If you watched other races today you seen other horses running down the middle.

TA is an excellent filly, and she will likely be back against the boys in the BC Classic.
