I stayed in this low-budget hotel in Scarborough, hoping to get a better hotel room then the other ones I've Been in around Blackpool.
This hotel is called THE GRANBY HOTEL,
The Granby hotel in Scarborough cost Me £35 for a single room with shared bathroom.
the Granby hotel in Scarborough seemed to be a nice looking hotel for £35 a night but as you will see within the video thing turn around very fast .

Good honest video that Dan! That sharp intake of breath when you wiped the top of the wardrobe made me laugh. Have you ever considered combining your two channels and going to different campsites and reviewing their amenities and facilities? Lots of people like camping but can't always get out to do wild camping, or have a private woodland they can visit. And your perspective would be greatly received. Just a thought, and maybe you could expand your viewers perhaps by doing that.

Thanks for doing this video. We go to Scarborough every year and have looked at this hotel once or twice but never stayed there. Might be ok for one night but would not want to spend any longer there after seeing you video. By the pub next door to where you stayed the Scarborough Arms is a cracking pub. Thanks again

yup thats defo a piss stain on that mattress 🙈 OMG in normal sight the toilet looks ok and something You'd have no problem using as it seems clean..till the UV goes on 🤮 Why should guests have to clean the room to avoid catching something tho.? That's bad housekeeping. Cheap shouldn't mean manky, there is still an expectation of cleanliness regardless of the price. You should get a bottle of Fabulosa soft furnishing spray as it also kills 99.99% bacteria, much better than febreeze which only produces a smell and only £1.25 for a bottle.

That room door lock is a fire hazard. If you can't find the key and the doors locked and the rooms filling up with smoke your as good as dead

I've noticed a few horrible comments on here Dan, I don't understand why people are trying to slate you for doing something good. I love to go away for the weekend camping but with me being asthmatic it's not always possible in winter so I end up looking for cheap b & b's otherwise I wouldn't be able to go so I for 1 really appreciate you doing this new channel and I'm sure, with the cost of living, quite a few other people will appreciate you too. Another brilliant video, can’t believe the state of the rooms you book, especially after Covid happened. It’s not only budget hotels that are sub standard, we’ve stayed in some filthy holiday let’s recent years, particularly in popular seaside resorts. And strangely they all have glowing write-ups in their visitors books. The most recent one was overlooking the harbour in Seahouses, you wiped your feet when leaving! Might be an idea to test a few of these?

I've been interested in the British music hall circuit for decades. From the beginning of the 20th century to the early sixties, the guest houses and hotels in Britain tended to be miserable experiences. No towels; having to put down a deposit for some toilet paper and a light bulb. Bed bugs and stained: carpets, rugs, curtains, wallpaper, sink , bedding and mattresses. Roy Hudd's Book of the Music Hall; biographies on such entertainers as : Max Miller, Little Titch, Dan Leno and The Goons/ Spike Milligan....all stand witness to awful accommodation. THH series of videos just highlights that next -to-nothing has changed as far as standards go. No wonder we're are so obsessed with holidaying in Spain.

Stopped going abroad 2007, stopped staycations 2018, just a rip off these days, plus 35 to 90 pounds per night there is not much difference to cleanliness of the accommodation if you look closely, most dust on tops of door jambs etc is basically Human skin that settles !😆 Gaz Yorkshire.

7 out of 10 is a very generous rating for the Granby. The £10 hotel in Blackpool appeared to be of a similar ilk to this tired old dump and less than a third of the price. An extra £5-10 would have bought you an en-suite double room in several nearby quality hotels.

1 night would be the maximum i would stay, its more of a run down dump that the council would use. These places should be at least clean and comply with health and safety. Your very generous with your rating. Families might be better staying in a caravan on a site with all the amenities. Keep on with the reviews .
