This song is from map of the soul 7 and bts has described map of the soul 7 as a "love letter to their 7 years of career" and that the higher and more successful they becomethe darker their shadows and fears are. I think the entire MOTS has a dark and mysterious vibe like blackswan, shadow and louder than bombs (with few exceptions like ego of course😂) All member solos are very personal. When I first heard this album, I'm not even an ARMY yet. But the moment I heard the opening, that deep rumbling bass, I was hooked instantly the the song. The melody, how the rap (Yoongi's part, especially) went, it was so sad yet beautiful, and at that time I didn't even know the lyrics yet. The song is from Map of the Soul: 7, and the whole running theme of the album is as the title "map of the soul" suggests. about them exploring themselves throughout the years. From songs like Boy with Luv which is about how BTS is flying high with the wings they received from Army, to darker themes like Black Swan which is about BTS's fear about not feeling passionate about music anymore and On being "no matter how far we've come and what the world throws at us, we will never settle and always aim higher and push forward". Also We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal kinda wraps up their zero to hero story. MotS:7 is a very personal album for specifically BTS, which is a change up from the previous album series "Love Yourself", which was about topics that everyone goes through rather than just BTS's personal thoughts. So yes, your thoughts at 9:10 are spot on :)

They are young men who lost their "normal" lives because they grew "unexpectedly". Yoongi said they wanted to reach the 15th floor of a building but it feels like they reached the 60th.
