I agree Suzanne, I'm old also and didn't hear many of the songs that people are reacting to today. Until we were forced to stay home during the plandemic I had not known about reaction videos!! 2021 I started watching reaction videos about videos of some of the singers from back in 'my day' that I had never SEEN before!! Back in the 60s we had RADIO and didn't know what people looked like unless they were on the Ed Sullivan Show. Disturbs "Hold on to Memories" and "The Light" are a couple of other good Disturbed's songs. I don't like all their songs, but that doesn't stop me from listening to the ones I like. KZbin certainly has allowed me to see things that were not available to us before the Internet. Young people are so spoiled having the internet!! They have no clue how we lived without it!!

With bands like Pentatonix, songs end up being all about the sound, the beautiful voices. They showcase the voice, not the song writing. Disturbed are telling a story, with emotion. They showcase the writing, not just the melody and voice.

This is my favourite version of the song! I actually think it's the most beautiful version of the song, although most other people think it sounds angry.
@kayyarra78624 жыл бұрын
I think that the reason this version felt more like a full story is because of the wide array of emotions, at first you focus on how beautiful and rich his voice is, but then you start really listening to how sad the lyrics are, then the vocal fry comes in and you really feel how angry the writer is about the state of the world, then towards the end there's still anger, but almost a resignation that things are unlikely to change.

With you on his voice being "angelic" or "uplifting" until he gets to the line of the song "and my words, like silent raindrops, fell". His voice switches into an "anger" or "frustration" that follows the rest of the song. It adds to the "emotion" of trying to share with the world, yet no one gets what you are sharing. To me, very well done and I have not felt that effect before in a song.

David Draiman's when he does a remake he seems to choose songs that seems like its sang to a few people while he sings for everyone. he has power, intensity and raw emotions in his voice. with his bad that is very good at merging and enhancing it into the music so you feel it. for some reason i never feel hate from their work. only sadness, regret and love like a scream that something needs help but is so hard to show and say. guess its like a bridge that is breaking and he is trying to get people to help fixing it but is scared that its breaking to fast so he is trying hard to get more people to help. at least thats what its like to me.

I feel like we live in the world almost destroyed. Little beauty, music or heart left. Gradually people are finding their musical voice and see a whole world across from them that had been devastated by this lack of beauty in their world. So much so, that they are speechless to each other. They however, have retained the ability to communicate at that level with help. Therefore, the musicians cross the expanse to reteach them how to live, sing and communicate once again. I have listened to this version a hundred times and still get goosebumps each time. It is an amazing song. Especially done this way. Draimon is so expressive in his voice and facial expressions. Even his use of a moment of silence dramatizes the song.

David's vocals aren't an angel and a devil, more like a lion and a lamb, the traits of the Father. David was born/destined to interpret and perform this song by the Father himself, he may not even know it. This performance was so touching and searing, it could only have been inspired by the Father. It literally has the power to touch and transform the souls of the masses. We need to spend the time to interact and learn through each other, it's a big part of how the Father intended to spread his love and encouragement. The neon lights have monopolized that time, allowing lonliness and quiet to become the rule, add to that peer pressure and fear that your ideas or thoughts aren't good enough to be shared. The words of the Prophets(us) are thus extinguished, banished to the subway walls and tenement halls. The video itself portrays the instruments and musicians taking their forgotten instruments on a ship to the masses of people with stories to be told, to rescue both. Heavens knows music today has a void, it has forgotten to tell stories, I think this was also has a hidden message in the video....... don't forget the lyrics and the story! This performance concept is literally the eighth wonder of the world, now moving salted butter and the peanut butter cream-filled donut down to numbers 9 and 10. :)

I love David Draiman too!! As a singer and lover of music I still remember the feeling I felt back in 2016 when I saw it performed the first time by David. The original version by Simon and Garfunkel sang a warning, David sang the anger at that warning being unheeded
@rk41gator3 жыл бұрын
His voice has Gravitas. Few discuss the video images, perhaps because his voice is so dramatic and dynamic. The visuals are of a forest, with music destroyed. Simon and Garfunkel's original is softer and the lyrics are more urban. (you must find the original) This version is darker and menacing, but hopeful at the end. It seems that music, symbolized by the instruments in the ark sailing to shore, is over coming the forces that hold it back. The ark brings music back to the people as the dawn rises. Hopeful and stunning work.
