------------
People always ask what gear I am using while I am touring with Galactic, so I decided it was time to make a video to show ya'll what gear comes with me on the road!
It's a Gretsch Brooklyn series kit with my signature Spirit of New Orleans Titanium Snare. The sizes are 8x12,14x14, 16x16 and 14x20. I get a lot of questions about my auxiliary 14x26 bass drum and I answer a lot of those questions in this video. I've added lots of fun percussion over the years including my LP signature pandeiro. Check out the kit and let me know what you think in the comments.

A better way of saying it I think" "What a Professional drummer uses playing live"? Whatever is on stage! As they can make any drum set sing and sound good! And Mr. Moore is a perfect example of that! Thanks for finding time to offer real world stellar advice to other drummers, and those who simply love the music! The tempo/metronome part is worth it's weight. One of the best things you can do if you are a working drummer. If you are out there working with different musicians, and singers particularly, you know what I am talking about.

You are right. If a guy like Stanton Moore feels completely relaxed about using a metronome, then you know that a metronome is not going to “kill your feel”…
@tombailey1059
@tombailey1059 2 жыл бұрын
That was my least favorite part. If the song is slightly faster tonight than it was last night, then that's what the occasion called for. A moment when the song is dragging but is technically accurate according to the metronome, that's a moment where the musicians are selling the moment and the audience short. Settling a hypothetical argument doesn't seem like a good enough reason to impose that kind of rigidity on live music.

Apparently so… I get a lot of questions about it. They’re usually, “what metronome is that you’re using” or “what is that to your left of your hi-hat”. People usually don’t have a close up view of it though, maybe more people can recognize it when they can see it.

@stantonmooremusic
@stantonmooremusic 2 жыл бұрын
Michael, I would say the 15 inch Kerope hats are the closest to what I’m playing in this video. I have some of the 15 Keropes and they are killer! I usually use the same hats for every situation I’m playing in, including piano trio or loud funk. I may have a couple pairs so I can leave some at the studio, some on the road and some for local gigs, but I like to find personal cymbals that will fit all of that situations I’m playing so that I always sound like me no matter what I’m playing. I hope that helps.

@stantonmooremusic
@stantonmooremusic 2 жыл бұрын
Good catch! I’ll have to go over all that if I do another tour of the kit. I may do one from the studio. I’m using all Audix mics. We just recently started using D6’s on my floor toms. We are using D6’s on the bass drums. An I5 on the snare. I’m using coated Remo ambassadors on the mini timbales, the 12 inch tom and the snare. Coated emperors on the pandeiros and floor toms. Clear ambassadors on the resonant sides of the toms. Coated power stroke 3’s on the bass drums. I mic the 20 with a Kelly Shu mounted inside the drum. I mic the 26 outside on the batter head. That way I don’t need holes in front of either front bass drum head. I am using fiberskyn Gretsch logo heads the fronts of the bass drums. Thanks for your interest! 👊🏼

I've been using what I learned that day ever since. When I bought a new Gretsch USA Custom shell bank in 2019/2020 I installed Ambassadors over Ambassadors on the toms and Emperors over Ambassadors on the floor toms before I ever put a stick to a drum. @@j.kellybrown8600 I don't think any manufacturer is giving out free stuff like many are lead to believe. The artist/brand relationship has more to do with what they can do for each other in terms of marketing and education and, of course developing new instruments (Lunar Crash). I'm sure Stanton has had numerous consultations with Paul Francis and others regarding his likes and dislikes in the design process and while he might get a freebie out of the prototypes and a final product, they are most likely not just handing out free sets of cymbals to every one of their endorsees. They'd go out of business pretty fast. If Stanton is like most players I know, he's got several sets of cymbals for different applications and he's probably getting the standard artist discount, but certainly not comped. That practice died long ago with Buddy. Oh, I'm also sure that Zildjian helps book its artists for clinics, master classes and other appearances. Those are additional sources of income/revenue/advertising for both the artist and the brand. It's all about win/win situations.
