I've always wondered about the economics of buying these old raggedy second hand trains. Surely it's like buying an old cheap Mercedes and trying to keep it running - Probably the most expensive purchase you could make, in the long run?

It was probably more likely to have been manufactured (the locomotive that is) in Japan, South Korea or the United States or even China while the carriages are probably from either Japan or South Korea as 2nd hand units like the locomotives or brand new from China but probably more likely to be 2nd hand like what the locomotives probably are.
