Just as I predicted, this has become my favorite LD18 video. I know these videos don't show the amount of time and effort that goes into these jobs, but I can say without any reservation... this job turned out to be nothing short of spectacular! I'd 'almost' give my left testicle to have you transform my little 3 1/2 acre pond into one of your masterpieces. The levee repair I had done last year leaves a lot to be desired...

Chris, first off well done! In my opinion, this is the best job you have filmed to date! These large pond projects really give you a chance to show off your talents. Having the raw materials on site was a big plus for sure. It takes skill, imagination, and the right equipment to do the job you did on this pond. Kudos for working thru your sickness as you did. Most would have been M.I.A. I look forward to the next " Mini-Series" of Large pond transformation 101. 50 or 100 acres pond redo or build would be a subscriber magnet!

I still think the veterinary clinic was the hardest job. They removed the top soil and found out the whole site was solid rock and needed to be blasted and removed.
@lawnguy32672 жыл бұрын
@@GKsGS400 That was a doozy. Then the crew came in to hammer the rock and missed a bunch and had to come back like 3 different times because Chris just kept finding rock. That had to have taken a mental toll on Chris as well. By far the toughest job I've seen on this channel, not only for Chris, but also for the equipment.

The "Before" section reminds me of a pond dam near where I grew up, in Britain. That was one of a series of ponds dug partly as fishponds, partly to supply water mills. These were all dug about 250 - 300 years ago, so everything back then was done by hand and by horse; no mechanisation at all. The pond dam on one of these ponds was just like the before one, and was too narrow. One day a huge thunderstorm overwhelmed the too-small spillway and overtopped the dam, eroded it and caused it to fail. The people nearby did try to give warning to the city of Leeds downstream of the dam; they sent a boy on the fastest horse available (no telephones, not even telegraph back then) but it was still too late and one man was killed in the Meanwood Valley area (industrialised stream valley downstream). The pond still has its too-narrow dam to this day, but the water level has been reduced by at least 8 feet, and the new spillway is considerably bigger.
