Legendary line up and adding John Wesley as a second guitarist during their live shows not only enhanced the PT sound but Wesley’s back up vocals added so much depth. PT changed my life.

The perfect choice, this song is pure perfection. Gavin's drumming is sublime. This song is from Fear of a Blank Planet, sounds killer on vinyl too 😊

I truely appreciate your reaction with silence as it speaks volumes. It is truly a journey. Thank you- Peace

I'm definitely happy to see some Porcupine Tree on here. I've been actively playing the drums for almost 20 years now, and I would say Gavin Harrison definitely deserves a spot in the conversation of greatest metal drummers of all time. It's not only that his technical playing skills are razor sharp and his timing absolutely steadfast, but also he is one of the best I've heard when it comes to composing drum parts. Like he does some wild stuff I probably wouldn't have ever thought of doing and manages to make all of it fit in with the rest of the band so seamlessly.

Hi there Wolff.. it is a bit jaw dropping on first listen isn't it. I've listened to this track so many times now and it never gets stale. And I love the way they can perform with this much clarity and precision on stage whilst also taking you on a journey. What stuns me is the way they can virtually reproduce the studio version on the stage with just a few changes to suit the live environment. And you will find that with all of their live stuff... it's flawless. Steven Wilson is such a great songwriter. Keep on Rocking.

Thanks, Tommy. You dove into the deep end. Again. They are incomparable musicians playing incredible songs. Gavin joined them on drums in about 2002 and it really added another gear. You can really hear what he adds in live performance to some of their older material. I await your discovery of their reunion after a 12-year absence in 2022. There are many great choices released on DVD. Some are also released and linked on KZbin.

Great first song to dig into for Porcupine Tree! Fear of a Blank Planet is a great album and at first look Anesthetize is crazy long, but it really flows with the rest of the songs imo. It's interesting that you mentioned that it felt like watching a movie because I got the same feeling the first time I heard it, very cinematic! Maybe it's a continuation of the thought process from the previous album Deadwing, which album was a concept album based on a screenplay Steven Wilson had written, Anyhoo great reaction, can't wait to see more! 🤘🤘

Oh...I am brought back. I forgot how great this song was. PT, i remember looking in early 2000s for something different. I had a love of Yes, Kansas, Floyd.. i went looking for new prog and found PT and Pure Reason, others too but these have stuck over time. So good at composition and making an feel or environment. That drummer.. wow, SW and other vocalists shined. I love the polyphonic singing, PRR does that a lot too, in fact PRR has opened for PT before. Great song choice patreon! ❤ and ✌️

Welcome to a whole new world of musical perfection Wolff - there is SO much we could recommend it is hard to know where to start. Most of their catalogue is of course from the early 2000's but dont be afraid to explore their brand new material as well from the the album Closure/Continuation released just a couple of years back. If you go looking through KZbin you can find 3 tracks with live recordings from their studio sessions in Air Studios which are all brilliant in their own right: Harridan, Walk the Plank and Of the New Day. All completely different but essential PT. Or also now available on KZbin are 3 tracks from the LIVE DVD from the same album Closure/Continuation and from that again you could check out any one of them: Fear of a Blank Planet, I Drive the Hearse or Harridan. Enjoy the ride and I look forward to watching and listening to your reactions
