In this video, I react to two (yes, two!) Sohyang performances of Ella Fitzgerald's 'Misty' and Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On'.
Thank you for your wonderful suggestions, this is the last Sohyang video for a while as I'll look to more country/soul performances but enjoy this one as part of the Sohyang trilogy!

You must listen to her "Everyone" in Korean not reading the subtitels. You will be prepared for a emotional rollercoaster. Sohyang in acapella and speaking directly to you. I cried ! She is belting her heart out and long ! OMG !

From "KoreaBeginAgain" imo nothing beats her "I will always love you". "Day Day" is great also where she raps a bit. Other great song are her "Stay" and renditions seriously chalenging the originals like "I Will Go To You Like the First Snow" "Love Poem" "If I Ain′t Got You" and "Please". She shines in all of them, her emotional conveyanse through them is immence. Our human jewel keeps shining brightly in all of the above.

There are many, and one you need to hear for something completely different is Day-Day. The only reason she isn't as known as others is she is an independent artist. Sony contacted her last year and she turned them down, so it isn't that they don't know of her. She wants to stay true to herself and she knows a large label may change that, plus she has continual health struggles. She is a cancer survivor and that caused her to contract hepatitis and she has recurring bouts of pneumonia. A grueling tour is not something she could do.

Yes!! Sohyang performances at begin again season 4 including "flashlight", "you are the reason", "stuck with u", "if i ain't go you", "i will be there", "wind song", and more are also great. Hope u enjoy.

Actually there are over 20 performances. About 10 solo and more than 10 duet or group. I believe there is around 23 or 24.

This is my favorite performance of her doing MISTY. She has done it with a full band/orchestra and it was lovely and impeccable but this intimate version with just the piano 👩🏻‍🍳 💋

Great reaction,Paul, thank-you very much! Yes, Misty , has been a favourite of mine since it came out in 1959! The song was written for a man actually! My favourite version was actually the, Johnny Mathis version. His voice is incredible! His fast vibrato , well it’s crazy good to me! Don’t get my wrong I loved Ella’s version too and all her songs! I think the best example of it is here version of a 600 year old Korean folk son, “Arirang”. There are dozens and dozens of versions from various regions! The post Korean version has become almost an anthem for Korean Unification! SoHyang modifies it , to modernize it but still keeping the traditional vibe! It could be her Best song , it is in Korean but this video has English Subtitles! The song talks about a group of people( Both North and South Korea ) going on a journey together and holding hands as they make their way! The come to the sea and take a boat to and island with a large hill on it , called ,Arirang. On their boat crossing they go thru a terrible storm and the huddle together! ( I’ll let you guess during the song when the storm begins) When they arrive at the hill on the island , again hand in hand the walk up it resting when they get tired , till together, one helping the other they reach the crest and rejoice in their successful journey and their new friendships! Oh yes their is a soloist violin player in this performance! She is Sue Son(Son Sue-Kyung )(British born and raised ,Korean Heritage) was very successful on , Britain’s Got Talent in 2009. Too right, I listen to sohyangs performances in korean all the time & its uncanny the amount of times she has me in tears when I haven't the faintest idea what the lyrics are. Its something you have to get used to as many of her best performances are in her native language (she sometimes mixes languages within a song)

The girl in red as you say is Lee Su-Hyun and she is no wallflower. You'll be able to see her perform in this series of Begin Again Korea. My heart will go on is not a favorite of mine but your reaction are excellent. New subscriber from Northern Ireland. We don't talk about the Titanic.

To answer your question: The location where they performed "My Heart Will Go On" is Songdo Beach in the city of Busan. The male singer is Jung Seung Hwan, primarily a ballad singer. The female singer is Lee Suhyun. She is one half of the sibling duo Akdong Musician or AKMU. I don't know if they are your style based on what you mentioned are your favorite music titles, but if you are doing "weird and wonderful" music, they definitely fit that moniker. Enjoyed this Sohyang trilogy. Can't wait to see what's next.

Thanks for your wonderful react. If you noticed, Sohyang voice has the sounds of instruments, whether it is a flute or a piccolo or a violin or piano, whatever. In this case her voice resembles a saxophone. Whatever language Sohyang sings, she miraculously conveys the message of the song to your soul. She has mentioned numerous times that this is her calling. Sohyang is a true gift from the Almighty. Go to Vimeo an search "Sohyang Begin Again Korea", there are numerous songs from which to select. You can't go wrong with Sohyang. Vimeo is where to go for Sohyang songs. All the performers whom appear with her are Korean Superstars in their own right. This is a well product series. FYI. Lee Suhyun is like the OG of this Begin Again. She is a very popular kpop singer blessed with an angelic and musical voice. She is the official singer of Disney's Mulan in Korean. She did a duet with Sohyang in Begin Again with My Favourite Things.
