Ohtani is absolutely on 🔥 right now, super dialed in. Only other hitter I have seen to go up to the plate and expect a HR was when a juiced up Barry Bonds would go up to bat back in the day. Ohtani is just muscling and willing some of these HR’s out of the Park! Exciting to watch as a Dodger Fan, can’t wait to see when he introduces his Pitching next year as another part of his arsenal.

Regarding the Barry Bonds comment, it is refreshing to see Ohtani actually getting pitched to. Bonds had to be even more locked in because he barely got anything close to hit towarss the end. The Dodgers competiveness, lineup, and the damage Ohtani can do on the bases is helping his cause of the HR front. It's also fun to see the stats being meaningful for a team in the hunt.

I am from Minnesota, I have followed Ohtani since his first year with the Angels, and I stopped being a Twins fan of 30 years. I was very fortunate to see him 5 times, including one game he pitched. Ohtani is a god send. Now I finally get to see him in the post season. What a time to be alive and witnessed this Unicorn. Goatani!!!

It is honestly amazing that Ohtani is able to do so well as a hitter, and of course I will continue to support him. Thanks to Shohei Otani, I can do my best at work. He gives me hope.

Ohtani is also an excellent pitcher. In his career, so far, he has pitched in 86 games, 482 innings. Has a record of 38-19 witn an ERA of 3.01 a WHIP 1.08, batters are hitting .200 against him, has 608 strikeouts with 173 walks. This season he is now hitting .301 with 53 homeruns, 55 stolen bases (been caught stealing only 4 times) and OBP of .383 and and OPS of 1,023. The Dodgers have 6 games left on the regular season. 3 against the Padres and 3 in Colorado against the Rockies (60-96)

I seriously believe, from next year on, MLB should make something like an MVP+ Award for Ohtani until he retires. If they don't, as long as Shohei remains healthy, the MVP race wouldn't be any interesting while just provoking unnecessary hate among fans. The new award should be given only to 2 way players who would sweep the MVP race no matter what, and it should be considered a tiny bit more prestigious than the MVP. And then, let us reserve the MVP award for all other regular players. After all, everyone needs motivation, you know.

@@wilburwood8261 I'm very much surprised at the fact that you couldn't make out my comment. I wrote "from next year on" specifically for people like you. How does that count for anything this year? I also clearly noted the new award that I proposed should be given to 2 way players, in which case this year's Ohtani does not apply to anyway. And I'm not even blindly rooting or praising Shohei, my point is that there really is no perfect (or decent enough) way to compare or evaluate Ohtani with other great players once he starts pitching and batting again. So my simple argument was to make another award as long as someone of Shohei's calibre is playing 2 way. If there is no fair comparison to be made, I just thought it'd better to do so. If there is no satisfactory metric to evaluate both 1 way and 2 way players at the same time, then logic dictates that a 2 way player that is at an all star level on both sides will always sweep the awards. You can disagree, because I don't think there is any RIGHT answer for this problem whichever way you look at it, anyway. People have their rights to their opinions, so I don't mind you thinking otherwise, but criticism should be logically construed or you'll be the one violating the right to anyone's opinion. Such opinions don't and can't hold any significance in a modern democracy. Discreditors of Shohei have been putting up the WAR argument ever since 2021. Though I personally don't buy into people who mindlessly believe in WAR as the Holy Grail of Baseball, I do think it is a relevant metric. That said, as far as this year is concerned, Shohei is leading in most batting categories and WAR in the NL, so I wonder why people just don't give him the MVP award. After all, he did play by the discreditors' book. PS. Please note there is no slander, insult or mockery in my comment.
