When you hit Continue after finishing the game, you spawn on top of a radio tower as if the bombs never happened. So, the best theory I've seen is that the bombs were all part of the bliss-induced hallucinations, and after Joseph's little family speech at the end of the game, you snapped out of it, realized he's playing you, kill him, and emerge from the bunker to find out that the bombs never actually fell. Then you climbed the nearest radio tower to make sure the world wasn't on fire and then go on your merry way. That's the ending I choose to believe.

You know what, I've been putting off the ending of this game for weeks now because of the ending. But the way you just summed it up makes perfect sense to me, and actually makes me feel better for the final fight so afterwards I can find all the secrets.

No, actually you just teleport there, because the developer CHOSE to put you there The developer wouldn’t let you play the entire game like a fallout based game, jus5 because of ONE ending. I really hope they make a farcry 6, as a continuation of the nuclear ending, because it would just make sense.

Faith's region is odd because you don't want to save that Marshall, he left you twice to save his own hide at the start of the game. screw him.

This is the only game ending that made me question my actions. When I beat the game I almost felt like the Seeds were right in a weird ass way lol. What if the bombs dropping had nothing to do with the seed family? What if it was just WW3 starting and John really thinks he was right and in a weird way, that would make him right. Probably the bliss that had me messed up but wow. Great game!

I finished the missions. Now I'm doing the Master Outposts that refreshes the Peggie bases. Having a good time trying to get them with out alarms going off. By the way did you know you can pull a trailer with a semi? While tooling around I was listening to the in game radio and the anouncer said that there was indeed a nuclear attack on America, but that Montana had been spared. Interesting that. I did find Hudson very much alive, and Pratt aswell. Hudson is in Falls End and Pratt is in the Wolfs Den bunker. What a mind game it is. That part about the game I really enjoyed. I am starting a new game on my one and trying to 100% the game in the x. Been years since I have 100% a game. Also, there is a zombie DLC ;) come on man.

I thought it was a good ending. The ending for every other game is you win and everyone lives happily ever after. The other ending for this game where you walk away is also a good one. Apparently there is also a secret ending right at the beginning of the game where you walk away and don't arrest him. The game is over in basically five minutes.

I see no problem with the ending. I mean, not everything ends in a bed of roses. If you think about it... even though he thinks he won, he didn't. How long does it take for that fallout to clear enough to survive? Generations? Yeah... he ain't seeing the completion of his project... if said project can even complete. I mean, yeah... this does seem like the lead up to the Fallout series. I think he'd cry and make his exit. Now... did it auto save your completion and is there a post game?

Research from the 1950s or 60s, I'm not exactly sure when, indicates that the radiation would likely clear within about a month.

Doing some quick reading... it depends on exactly what material is used in the device as well has how 'clean' the reaction is. The fallout is a mix of different materials... some degrade quickly while others take a long time. So, yes... in a month he could probably leave the bunker for short stints... but he would need to find somewhere that doesn't have fallout (or has much less fallout) to be able to live long term on the surface. Sounds like if he went to the surface in a month... he could be sterile or have cancer within two after that - if he lives on the surface. It also depends on where the devices detonated... if they were close to the surface or hit the ground then the fallout is worse. If instead they are in the air then the fallout would be less... although, that is accounting for one device, not the 4+ that appeared to be in the end sequence here. (I recall seeing two, pretty sure I heard two more. But, reading some people's theory about the ending, they believe here are only 3 nukes because 'one nuke per silo'. I'm not sure how true that is... but maybe there are only 3. Though, based on that, they are likely surface detonations - which also makes sense since there was no 'flight' before the first one.) ----- So, I stand by my 'generations' to clear out. Sure, he can go to the surface in a few months... but he would be better off waiting at least 3 months... and even then, 3 overlapping the area means he should probably wait even longer than that. Plus, you know that when the fallout does start to clear, the military will be sent in to try and figure out what happened and check for survivors in bunkers. I believe at that point he will be arrested or killed... unless they don't realize who he is and he slips away before they figure it out.
