Sohyang personally does the musical arrangements, plus the accompaniments of chorus and orchestra, the costumes and lighting for her stage performances. When you see her perform, everything you see is an expression of her amazing personality. She is a composer, song-writer and author, she lectures on music and voice at University. She is a deeply spiritual Christian and believes that her voice is a gift from God and she dedicates her singing to lifting people's spirits. She has consistently refused recording contracts from international Music corporations. That is why she is not famous. She may be the most flawless singer in the world. Cheers.

Sohayn'g was diagnosed with either uterine or ovarian cancer after she married at 20. It was caught early and she went in for surgery after being told they needed to remove the left side. While under they found it also on the right and since she was under general anesthetic they asked the family who said remove the right side as well, this was done leaving her infertile but all cancer was removed. She is on some kind of life long medication. The operation itself though gave her hepatitis and she struggled many years with bouts of pneumonia. This is why you need to pick and know your clips, it is too sad seeing her sing while ill. So while the cancer was beaten many years ago it is the lingering effects on her health from the hepatitis and pneumonia that have her often singing while sick. I avoid those clips where I can. 2018-19 were particularly bad years and she disappeared for a while after doing 'You raise me Up' to get well again. While I have seen her singing while tired over 2020-21 I have not heard of her having pneumonia again. Sohyang is a lovely person and such an inspiration. One time she was asked and she said while doing the high notes while singing ill would send a pain right through her head. But you never hear her complain and she keeps on trooping on.

It's fun to see how captivated you were by this magical performance. You should look up the meaning of the song. It will lend even more context and meaning to this stage. As for your question on hitting high notes, although I don't know the answer but I am certain that the great singers spend countless hours in practice to gain their vocal control so that they can hit those notes with confidence and seeming ease. There will be occasions where the singers improvise on the spot, but for an important occasion, I'd like to believe they already rehearse the song so that they know precisely how each note will take place in advance.

Yes, she had a cancer and that’s why she can’t have children. Also she had a lot of pneumonias. The last one was in 2019 that could break her. But she has got over it and now back to amazing health statement. I recommend you to react to Lean On Me that she sang recently:3

No, they are not copy right free. KBS is one of the major South Korean TV broadcasters and like MBS and JTBC they can all of them cause blocks and even strikes. The safest way to upload is with a filter over the video. If you happen to have found a copycat KBS channel you may get away with it, but not if its the official broadcaster.

So Hyang seems to specialize in going from softly sung passages to full beast mode instantly. It is like this tiny 5' 4" 100 pound woman suddenly pulls a railroad tie from behind her back and clobbers you over the head with it! Jaws hit the floor all over the world when she does this. She is very sneaky, ha, ha! She is an entirely self-taught singer, as far as anyone has been able to determine, with only two short sessions with Seth Riggs back around 2010 or so where he taught her his "nay, nay, nay" method for quickly and precisely hitting a note dead on. She practised singing by mimicking Mariah Carey's "Music Box" album when she was a kid and then moved on to Whitney and Celine. She tells interviewers straight out that her "voice is from God." She discovered she had uterine cancer right after getting married at 20 years of age, which is almost an unheard of young age for marriage in South Korea. She had surgery, where her surgeon discovered the cancer was more extensive than tests had indicated. But he got it all. She states quite plainly that God healed her due to the prayers of her church, so the outcome may have been in doubt for a while! It was only through marital relations with her husband that the cancer was discovered, so it was a real blessing to get married when she did. She also ended up with hepatitis B from a bad blood transfusion at that time, and this leaves her with pneumonia on an almost regular basis. You can pray for her about this because she has asked for prayers over it as it plagues her at times. That is for a singer like what kryptonite is for Superman, as you doubtless know. From what I have heard from one vocal coach, going from high octane vocal belting to that very soft voice, as she does at the end of this song, is very, very difficult and is evidence that she has much higher than normal control over her nervous system. Koreans are an emotional people and really enjoy emotional songs, but sometimes do not show it on their face. A hint of a smile is all that will appear. So Hyang's face is like a blazing neon sign for her emotions, while the calm young man in the audience is not atypical of Koreans. Lots of inward emotion but hardly any sign of it outwardly. That's the best I can make of it anyway. 😎
