I don’t know if this comes as a surprise to you, because, honestly, people are expecting Abby Steiner to go crazy in her runs. Well, she once again didn’t disappoint. At the recently concluded NYC Grand Prix 2023, Abby. Yes, you heard that right. #abbysteiner soared to 22.19 seconds, leading the pack in the women’s 200 m. She was closely followed by Tamara Clark at 22.43 seconds and Jenna Prandini at 22.51 seconds.
You should know, if you didn’t already, that the NYC Grand Prix is a gold-level stop on World Athletics’ Continental Tour. And, clearly, Abby didn’t disappoint!
In fact, reigning national champion Abby Steiner, who sped to a 21.77 in 2022 to top the U.S. list, has already won three races at her speciality distance this year, including a season-best of 22.23. Even though Abby was only second to #GabbyThomas at the Paris Diamond League meet, Abby remains #trackandfield good-natured about it. And she knows that her time will come.

Most people dont understand how this sport works. These athletes do not participate in every meet. Have you ever wondered why Steiner wins some meets and dam near come on last at others. Its because they choose which meets they want to run in. An elite sprinter will NEVER come in last or close to last. Steiner cherry picks her meets to get wins then the media will pick it up " Steiner wins again" when in fact there was no one in the race. Then there are the meets that you have to run in if you want to advance, those are the meets where the horses are going to be and those are the ones you dont see posted everywhere because Steiner usually comes in 5th at best and even last sometimes, in the 200 she does a little better but she NEVER wins at those meets. Like this year she didnt even qualify in the 100 to compete at the USATF and in the 200 she came in 4th which means she didnt qualify to represent the USA at the world championships this year in Budapest. The world championships is the next thing to the olympics in case you didnt know. With that said you can have 6 wins for the season and still be just average because u didnt race anyone at those 6 meets. Its alot more to be said about college records vs U20 records also. Big difference

No way she could be just a woman, she is faster than a young man her size. At the police academy in 2005 at 48 i ran the 300 in 35-36 range back to back. Another student from UF ran a 30 and 29. I keep thinking the first one I only warmed up with half a lap and the 2nd 2 laps. I took off too fast the first time then too slow the 2nd. If she could just work on her starts and start stretching that stride.

I'm a fan of Sha'Carri & ALL the world class female track athletes. There's no question that black women largely dominate the sport. Some may see Ms Steiner as a so-called 'Great White Hope,' but I just see her as another competitor, & a potentially great one.
