A lot of people asked for what about Baladi dance costumes and classification of Baladi dance?
The Baladi dance costumes have changed a lot from the past. After the white Galabiya was the basis of the Baladi dance in Egypt, the soiree dress has now become the master of fashion in Baladi dance. The Baladi dance is one of the main gates to Belly dancing and Oriental dance. This point leads us to the second half of the question which is the classification of Baladi dance and how to properly classify Baladi dance.
In this video you will knew more about the difference between Baladi dance costumes and other Belly dance, Oriental dance and Awalim dance costumes in addition the different types of Baladi dance.
QUESTION? - If you have any questions about Dancing, please comment below and I will do my best to answer it and or make a video on it :)

I love your explanations. I would have liked pictures of the head covering you were describing. I really appreciate this. I wish more dancers and teachers would watch these. I've had talented dancers telling me a dance is folkloric when it was cabaret and so on. Bless you sir

I was told that Fifi Abdo made the white male galabeya popular to dance baladi. I did not realize this white galabeya is for a woman and that people used it on stage before her

Hi PhaedraDarwish, Many dancers believed that Fifi Abdo was the first to wore a white men's galabia while she was performing Baladi dancing on stage. In fact, Tahia Carioca used this dress 40 years before Fifi in her movie "The Master". Nemat Mokhtar also wore the same dress in one of her films for the same reason. This is because it has been a common home dress for men and women since long ago in Egypt. Later, Fifi Abdo used the same dress in her play entitled "Pake me up", but many Egyptian dancers made the mistake of posting that Fifi was the first to use this white galabia.

I would love to know more about your perspective on why dancers in baladi, shabby, started to use bows, lace, and scarfs in their heads 😊 Thank you
@TamerAziz
@TamerAziz Жыл бұрын
Dear Estela Cameira, Thank you so much for your wonderful question and welcome to the channel. Women in most of popular Egyptian places use lace to tie their hair and cover their heads with a veil "scarves". It has become a habit for many women, whether in popular places or even peasant women. Therefore, we use them a lot in dance clothes, so that we can be close to the true meaning of the Baladi and street Shabby dance. I don't know what you mean by the bow, but I think dancers may use it as a kind of accessory on stage, unless it has a special meaning in theatrical dance. Once again thank you so much and feel free to write to any question you are looking for an answer to.

Thank you very much for this helpful video! What did you mean by the dancer wears the shawl tied to the side on their hair? Can you please explain further or perhaps do a video showing us how to tie the shawl to the side over the hair for a Baladi dance? Thank you! 🙏

My dear Karina Cisneros, I'm so glad you like the video. Very good question. I'll show you in practice how to tie a shawl on the hair like the Baladi Egyptian women during the class on 16th of this month. Please, remind me during the class too.😍

I think the famous dancer was talking about modern stage baladi classifications, but I'm not aware of any such system that is agreed upon, since the modern additions that are added on top of the old baladi movements are so many, and derived from so many other sources. It's like trying to define differences between all kinds of fusion dances, or to list all the inspirations for movements in raqs sharqi. My question is, how important is it to try to classify modern dances in that way, since there is constant development, and perhaps relatively few established (and generalised) fusions that are yet fixed enough to be classified?
@TamerAziz
@TamerAziz Жыл бұрын
Dear Vàna Rúndóttir , The famous dancer was emphasizing the existence of this type of dance in reality. This wrong information can create a lot of confusion in the understanding of Baladi dance. She also emphasized the existence of Baladi dance in the Arab region, and of course there is no form of Baladi dance over there. I didn't mention this last information from her due to several special reasons. The spread of these errors in general can make ambiguous information about Baladi dance. Your question about the classification of modern dance is great, especially nowadays when we hear about the Tarab dance. By the way, there are only Tarab songs, and no such thing as "Tarab dance". That's why we use dance classification to help us understand each type and form of dance.

So what about the new baladi dresses that show the shiny belly dance top?
@TamerAziz
@TamerAziz Жыл бұрын
Dear Dafne Melken, The Baladi dance dress must be one piece. No problem if part of it or the complete dress is shiny. It can be a mistake when we use the two-piece dress that belongs to Oriental or Belly dancing in Baladi dance.
