I sure miss those days! I was an owner/operator with a small family owned petroleum transport company. I worked with several women, and we were all like part of the family. I left when I was offered a job with a major oil company which was a good move, as I retired with a nice pension, and 401k. I can honestly say that was one of the best times of my life!

You should never connect the elbow to the Vapor stem of the in ground tank before connecting hose to truck ( it releases Vapor from tank to atmosphere) Vapor: Truck to ground Prod: Ground to Truck.
@universalenergy2311 Жыл бұрын
Here’s the comment I was looking for! Also, the other side is open so the diesel can vent, and she has the vapor to the gas hooked up. She’s just blowing gas vapor into the open. Am I missing something and I don’t know s**t?

Elbow on ground tank Hose to elbow Hose to truck Open ULSD. Same with Gas.
@Truckster1 Жыл бұрын
@ohyeahthatsright3155 You would be correct with the product hose, not with the vapor. You should always connect the vapor hose to the truck before connecting vapor hose and fitting to the ground stem first on gas. Notice the vapor stem Has a spring-loaded plunger on top to keep vapor from being released from UST to the atmosphere. When you connect the vapor ground fitting (which has a plunger rod) to the stem, it opens the plunger, releasing any pressure and vapor in tank.

Question. Do you know if temporarily converting a fuel tanker to a water tanker would ruin the seals or any other components? I already understand that the tanks are designed for 6 lbs/gallon and water weighs 8.34 lbs/gal. So net gallons may be lower.

Then NO CHANCE down hwy cigarette thrown out ignite hose fuel in it isn't evaporated, but closed carbon monoxide impossible to ignite, just oxygen sensor on exhaust no air oxygen verified refill..

Would you say it’s better to haul fuel for 60 cents a mile(2700+ miles a week) or haul dry van for $23 hour?
@imaletyouknow3716 Жыл бұрын
Okay... is there overtime associated with the 23 an hour. Because if it's not you're looking at 1620 a week at 70 hrs... with the fuel with the cents per mile you're at 1620 just with the miles alone depending on how long it takes you. With overtime. I'd say the fuel will make more less work.

Surprised to see that both diesel and gasoline are put through the same hose. Does that not cause contamination?
@Vagabond_Etranger6 ай бұрын
Barrel of oil >>>> refine it a little, you get diesel >>>>> refine some more, you get gas >>>>> refine it even more, you get jet fuel. So yes, there is contamination in the hose (same for any pumps at any gas station), but it's miniscule, like maybe 1/4 of a gallon in the hose. By the time you dump another load, of different fuel, say at least 1000 gal, it's not a big deal. Car engines are not gonna blow up. Maybe a knock at the most.

@Vagabond_Etranger6 ай бұрын
She's measuring the fuel level in the tank before she unloads & after she unloads. The measurements varies for each tank, unless they're built identical with the same capacity. Also a way for the gas station to check if you cheat them out of their gas. Say you begin measuring, stick is at 2 feet. After you dump in 5000 gal, it now says 6 feet. Plus or minus a few centimeters. Hotter temp, fuel expands more than when fuel is cold. If the gas station requested 5000 gal, your paperwork says you put in 5000 gal, but the ending measurement says 5 feet, the gas station know you did NOT put in 5000 gal. So either you can't measure, or the gallons put in is wrong.

Do you know you're hooking up that vapor hose wrong? You never hook the fitting up to the in-ground connection without the vapor hose connected to the trailer. Otherwise you're spewing vapor into the atmosphere. The unburned vapor is a worse greenhouse gas than the burned fuel creates. The whole point is for this to be a closed system that doesn't allow vapor to escape into the air. You're also not supposed to connect it while your diesel is offloading. Your company needs better trainers if that's how they taught you to do it.
