I know this is probably such an odd and out of nowhere thing to say, but during the speech and the beginning notes of the orchestra (specifically around 6:45ish) I watched Carrie's face transform into a younger version of herself. I've been following her for so long, but in that moment I swore she looked just like she did when she first started in les mis back in 2013. Full of fulfilled hope and wonder at the show that has weaved and bobbed its way through her life continuously. I'm so happy that theater is back in the UK and that the amazing show/life I've watched through your camera lens is able to come back with someone who obviously loves it so much. Best Wishes Carrie 💜

The fact you said literally nothing as soon as Cameron started his chat with the crowd was perfect. It surmised everything that was important to theatre, to you, to the audience of theatre. The way it was just a silent reaction listening... You have no idea how powerful that was Carrie. ❤️❤️

I was crying as soon as Carrie started crying. Not just because Carrie's emotion was so raw, not just because I've missed the theatre, but because it signals that there is hope on the horizon. I made my husband watch I'm a celebrity from the beginning as I said " we've got to support Gi" ( he had no idea who I was talking about ). By the end of the series he's really invested, we both jumped up and cheered when she was crowned queen ( I may have shed a tear ). I'm a celebrity was exactly what we all needed, made me laugh and cry 🤗. Lovely to see you back doing what you love Carrie 💕 xxx

I lived in dublin a few years ago and it was a rough time for me, really really rough. I'd hop in a cheap Ryanair flight to london every now and then just to watch plays and musicals and whatnot. It's been almost a decade since I've last been in the west end, but it'll always be a special place for me. And even though I'm now thousands of kilometres away, seeing les miz coming back to life moved me so much. The arts will always be there for the ones who need it and that's just the beauty of it.

As a young actress that was just getting started in the professional world when this all started (literally went to my first professional audition 3 weeks prior to lockdown here in the US in March) this vlog has reduced me to a sobbing mess. Because I, like you Carrie and so many others, know what its like to hear an audience cheer and we know the thrill that comes with it and my soul hurts to be back on stage and I dont know if or when I will ever get to do it again. literally sobbed from the time I heard Cam with his curtain speech until probably so late tonight. Thank you for this Christmas present of reminding me what I am waiting for

I didn’t expect to cry, but I most certainly did. Especially since I studied abroad in England in January through March, the British Theatre coming back made me realize simultaneously all over again how different this year has been and also how COVID has taken so much from us, but theatre (even socially distanced, half capacity, etc.) cannot be taken from us. Wow. I have chills. What a special moment for everyone.

Hearing the first starting notes and then hearing the crowd cheer.... I'm sitting here sobbing. This has brought so much hope to so many people, that things are actually going to go back to to semi the way they were before. I don't think you actors realize the hope that you provide. You really are amazing individuals, you're superheroes. I hope you know that. I hope you know it that you helps so many people, and how amazing is that that just by sitting our butts in a theater chair that we can just forget all about our problems if not just for two or three hours. And for those two or three hours the world just makes sense, forget all our problems and we're just able to enjoy life. So from the bottom of my heart Carrie thank you for everything you do. Thank you for putting your heart, your mind, and your soul into every character that you play. You're a rockstar.

As someone who loves theatre and has been in amateur dramatics in the past, the sound of an audience and the opening of Les Mis made me cry with happiness, it brings us so much hope that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and theatres will be lit up with audiences soon thank you so much for sharing that Carrie 🥰

This whole video just made me cry! Knowing that the audience was only 50% capacity and can still make all that noise just shows that theatre will forever stay alive! It was so emotional to hear an audience reaction to a performance and I can’t wait till I’m sitting in an auditorium again! And so massively proud of Gi it really does show that good people get rewarded, she was incredible and amazing in the castle and we shouted with joy when she won, even my 69 year old Dad who didn’t really know her before I’m a celeb which I think just says it all.

I graduated college summer 2018 with an HND Technical Theatre and Production Arts at 33 (second time around as tried to do it after school but family issues at time meant i had to drop out). Trying to get into Stage Management, in particular DSM/Show Calling but as we all know the positions tend to be "Dead Man Boots" positions. So for 2019, was just picking up freelance tech work where i could, Fringe, Panto, occasional events and casual at my local theatre. Felt like i was just getting the ball rolling and F**ing covid hit. This year has sucked in the biggest possible way. however, seeing this - seeing Les Mis and Six back open this weekend - seeing the great job the Im a celeb production team had done, and to top it off with Michael wearing that badge. Defo seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Carrie, thank you for always being positive, even when its super tricky to be. Thank you for being an inspiration and who knows (hopefully) we'll work together some day.

I started crying when I heard Cameron Mackintosh’s speech and then when I saw you crying and when I heard the music start playing at the beginning of the show. 😭. Theatre is so incredibly important! I’m so excited that things are starting to get back to normal! Also, so happy that Giovanna won I’m a celebrity! As you said, nice people who are genuinely kind should win too! 🙏🏽💖✨✨✨

I would officially be a “real” theatre kid if not for covid. I want soooo badly for theatre to come back.

A year ago today was the opening night of my school production of 13 the musical. So crazy that that show was the last time I was in a show. So happy that theatre is returning! ❤️

It’s so amazingly fantastic to see you all back where you belong, we’ve missed you all so much! I’ve loved I’m A Celeb this year, they’ve been such a thoroughly lovely bunch of human beings and it’s been so very much needed this year! I voted for Mumma G all the way through. Loved this video so much 🥰 Take care xx

Hey Carrie, thanks for doing vlogmas and for sharing the covid theatre experience. I'm watching from Australia and the theatres in my state are just about to start reopening and it's great to see how other theatres are handling testing and distancing before going back to work and being part of it. Hearing that speech and the audience and those first notes were so moving and I'm looking forward to experiencing those moments for myself.
