Hope you all enjoy this video! We decided to save some of the antiques that came with the house, and we’re showing a few at the end of this video! We’ll show more in future videos as we start bringing more things back into the house 😊

I think Hal should like to write in a bedroom with a door and the drawing room would be for relaxing and music and entertaining guests. He needs a man cave. A repaired, clean garage room would be quiet and private too. Just a suggestion. I know it’s your house and your decision.

The metal stand you were looking at after the Bombay 2- drawer table is a lamp stand. It would have held a lantern-type lamp originally (there is a hole punched in the end of the arm to hook a lantern. Now you could upcycle it and run a light cord through the hole in the arm and have an Edison bulb in it, or even hang one of those small Moroccan "star" lamps made of stained glass and/or punched metal. The base of your stand is not very wide so whatever you hang there cannot be extremely heavy. Hope that helps give you some ideas to make that rustic piece more modern!

Hi, I totally disassembled, scraped, sanded, filled, primed, painted and re-glazed 22 wooden double hung windows that looked just like yours in my last house. Here’s how I handled the rotted parts and it worked. Dig out the rot. Mix some Borax with water and saturate the dug area where you dug out the rotted wood. The borax stops the rotting process. I learned this from someone with a degree in sculpture. Then fill with Bondo and sand. It’ll look as good as new and hold up well. 😀

Genuine linoleum is a fantastic floor cover. Probably what was original. And comes in fantastic colors. Lasts 60 years and is a very eco friendly product, sawdust and linseed oil.

The progress is great on your house! That 2nd plant looks like a Peperomia. They grow well here in FL, will run wild if you let them, depending on the type. Also propagates well, most of them will trail too.

It's getting exciting, getting your room ready for moving in. You have done so much work all over already, even the yard looks more open. I like the articles you are keeping. I enjoy seeing every detail of your work, I love all your windows the most, the view from Hal's desk is awesome. And no Hal don't talk about writing in the basement it will not be good for your mind, I hope you were joking in that comment. Have a great week and sending my gratitude for your postings.

NOTE - Plant App - there's an app you can download, free, that identifies plants. The house is coming along nicely, love all attention to details. The Bombay chest is very pretty, hope you kept other furniture as well. There were a couple of end tables/night stands, from the initial walk throughs, that I thought were really nice.
