In the beginning you said a+b=b+c. How does 8=7?
@steviewax
@steviewax 5 жыл бұрын
The associate property is a principle of algebra which uses letters of the alphabet to symbolize numbers. 8=7 is NOT an algebraic expression. Also, in order to apply the associative property to an equation one must have at least two factors to associate on each side of the equation. 8=7 only has only 1 factor on each side of the equation.

It should be a+b=b+a

Yep, it was an accident. I'm surprised someone didn't let me know sooner. I will modify the video a little bit to avoid further confusion. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate you letting me know. :)

On the commutative addition property did you put "C" instead of "B" by accident? if you are using "C" then it'd equal 9 not 8. mistakes happen but i don't know if it was intentional or not

Thank you for uploading this. I'm going back to middle school on the 30th and they have us fill out this 10 page math packet. They asked us to classify examples of algebraic properties. I didn't get what it was telling me; but then my dad and I looked it over, and I realized I forgot my algebraic properties!!! So we both figured youtube would have a demonstration of it, and it did!!!!! people like you are important to this world. :)

1:10 this is wrong. you are place a+b and then b+a but your formula says a+b = b+c and c is 4 not 5 so you wrote 5+3 = 8 and 3 + 5= 8 but b +c is 3+4 which is 7
