I just ordered anti fatigue lenses in my glasses yesterday! I couldn’t tell if it was just another add-on they were trying to push or if it would actually be beneficial. It wasn’t explained very well to me but knowing that I work 8 hours looking at numbers on a screen this should help out a lot! I’m excited to try them out, thank you for the well explained information!

Essilor eyezen is very promising product, however, i vision did not adjust well and i suffer to some visual comfort due to a limited field of view. NOW iam using the zeiss Smart life digital is quite more expensive but i noticed a great comfort and wider field of view....

Are there any recommendations for brands of lenses that carry good anti-fatigue lens? Also is there a way to validate anti-fatigue lenses before ordering one ?
@mommydear
@mommydear 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard good feedback regarding Nikon’s Relaxsee anti-fatigue lens. Im sure there are also similar good ones out there too. I would recommend ordering an anti-fatigue lens from a trusted optical. This way you won’t need to worry about validation. In case of any inadaptation or problem, they can also troubleshoot for you. 👍🏻

What is the difference between having magnification (0.25 in most “computer” glasses) to help with convergence vs a prism vs a small ADD in the bottom (like Essilor anti fatigue/sightrelax)? I had a concussion and was given a 2 fresnel prism and told to wear them with a no rx lenses for computer work (I am nearsighted with a -2.00 rx for distance). However I was also told I would benefit from a small ADD of 0.6 for my distance lenses, but not to put the fresnel on my distance lenses. Would combining computer glasses with the 0.25 magnification along with the prism potentially provide additional benefit? When would you choose a fresnel prism over magnification for up close reading and vice versa? Similarly when would you choose the 0.25 magnification over the 0.4 ADD (0.4 is the lowest available) of the anti fatigue lenses? From my understanding they both help with convergence but with different mechanisms. There seems to be so many opinions it’s very difficult as a consumer to navigate! Thanks for helping to demystify the eyecare world with your videos!

Thanks for your questions! To clarify, magnification power and Add are interchangeable terms for the same thing. In terms of how to choose between using prism vs. Add to help focus at near, it depends on whether a person has trouble in their eye convergence or eye accommodation (please refer to 0:43 of video for explanation). This is something that the optometrist will determine at your eye exam and will be able to advise for your glasses to help with the focusing at near. The optometrist will likely use trial lenses to immediately find out if prisms or Add (and the magnitude required) will help you focus at near most effectively during your eye exam. In short, leave this complex question for your optometrist to solve! Your feedback on the effectiveness of the glasses will be the greatest help to your optometrist to navigate how to best help you.

Just watched the full video and come to your conclusion “saying if I don’t struggle with eye strain or headaches I basically don’t need it” But i placed my order already not knowing must about it just assumed it would be a great add on. Do you think it will damage my eye causing fast adaptation ? Do you think I should return them ? i don’t wanna cause any damage to my eyes . Thanks

I have been wearing anti fatigue lenses for a week now and I feel sometimes dizzy is it normal or?
@mommydear
@mommydear 3 жыл бұрын
It usually can take a couple days to adapt to the design. Beyond that though, anti-fatigue lenses are to help you function better. If it makes you feel dizzy instead, I would return to the optometrist to check if the add boost needs to be adjusted or if some other factor is causing your symptoms.

How do I actually order the anti fatigue lense when buying glasses online? I have glasses that I got from my doctor but when I go to order a pair online I do not see this option. Should I be selecting progressive instead of single vision? Hope this isn't a dumb question
@mommydear

Anti-fatigue lenses are usually patented lens designs by reputable lens companies. You will likely have to purchase the anti-fatigue lenses in-store rather than online.

Hi. Ive been searching for answers but none directly discuss it. I’m nearsighted so I don’t need to wear my glasses when at home on my iPad, book, or phone. But when I’m out and about and at work, I keep my glasses on all day. I’ve already ordered a pair with Warby Parker to include AF. Are AF lenses better for farsighted folks? TIA.

I've had my eyezin 1 lens for 6+months since my last eye doc appt. I have astigmatism in both eyes, they would get so tired and red at the end of every day and I work on a computer or phone at work and online school and they are great for working on computers and looking at screens because of the blue-light filtering but not for everyday wear due to the blue-light filtering causing color discrepancies in real life day to day items & driving! (the sky is not the same blue with the eyezin 1 lens)

I'm considering a Essilor Eyezens, so antifatique lens are dual focus. Do you think it's good to see a desktop computer monitor screen when the lens which add power is only at the bottom half?
@mommydear
@mommydear 2 жыл бұрын
Great question! The anti-fatigue lenses are designed for those who only have a very low near reading prescription. This means their eyes are mostly fatigued with near viewing only and the computer (which is considered intermediate-viewing) is still not much affected. In theory, if you have to use less energy for near viewing (thanks to the anti-fatigue design), you may have more reserve energy for intermediate viewing. Having said that, if you are struggling quite a bit on the computer, maybe other lens options that targets to help specifically that would work better.

Hi Doc I just received my eye strain glasses and I can already see really really well but when I put on the glasses I feel as though it has a stronger lens in them but at the same time the vision with my glasses on is the same as when I'm wearing it. When I hold it at away from my face also everything looks magnified. What could be the issue?

Does small frame glasses cause more fatigue eye than large frame? Because when i wear small frame my eye feel fatigue faster than large one. I think small frame limit my vision to see thing narrow. then my eye keep focus in small point and cause to eye fatigue. Could you please confirm my thoughts ?
@mommydear
@mommydear 3 жыл бұрын
Everyone can vary in their preferences for eyewear. In general, smaller frames doesn't necessarily cause more eye fatigue than larger frames. In fact, people with higher glasses prescriptions are often recommended to choose smaller frames because the lenses would be too thick and heavy to wear otherwise. It is good that you know exactly what works for you and what doesn't though! Wear what helps you see and feel the best ;)

I just received my prescription (low reading/computer glasses) and had an Eyezen/anti-fatigue lens added on. It was described to me as a "baby bi-focal" lol! I have them on now (just got them fresh yesterday) and it almost feels as if the lens is warped. I know it will take me some time to adjust. My question is since I spend most time on the computer (which rests at an arm-lengths distance) will the added increase in magnification at the bottom of my lens interfere with the regular prescription on the upper part of my glasses? For example, if I'm reading a text on my computer, do I have to keep my eyes reading the text above the invisble line that separates the regular prescription and added increase in order to keep from having the added magnification for near vision affecting the intermediate vision? I hope that makes sense, lol! Thank you!! I also have astigmatisms in both eyes, but my left one is worse :P
@mommydear
@mommydear 2 жыл бұрын
Different anti-fatigue lens designs may have the reading add start higher in the lens. For Eyezen, the design is to put the add only at the very bottom of the lens so that you will have the extra bit of help when viewing near (i.e. reading material at bent arm distance). So you are right that you should be viewing above the add section for the computer (which is at stretched arm distance). Hope that helps!

@@mommydear thank you so, so much! You answered my question on point! I think that's what I'm having trouble adjusting to. It's weird having a designated area for a specific field of vision. At least for me it is. I don't yet know if I like it, even though I do notice less headaches looking at my phone, like now lol! Thank you again!!
