Discrete data can assume FINITE values. E.g. number of children someone can have (zero, one child, two children, etc; number of apples in a tree, etc.). Continuous data may assume INFINITE values between a specific range. E.g. the diameter of a pen may have INFINITE values between 10 mm and 10.1 mm.. it may have 10.01 mm or 10.015 mm or 10.0151 mm and so on, depending on the tool you have to measure! Continuous data also apply to the water content inside a bottle, the weight of a person, etc.
