You just need to lock it based on your count, for example if you count 5 days then you just lock 5 beads on the things that hold the chain (I forgot the name). Tho Im not sure if this how they really use it, cause if I was the enemy I will just take all their stuff including their tag
@piobmhor85292 жыл бұрын
In Canada, our tags are a one-piece aluminum plate that is made to break in two when necessary. They carry the same data, service number, initials, family name, religious affiliation, blood type and CDN FORCES CDN (English and French). The bottom piece is the same except for the blood type as that would be unnecessary if the tags needed to be separated. Being one piece, they don’t rattle together which is a nice feature.

One of the most rewarding things you can do. Think about what you want your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) to be, basically what your job is when your in. Preferably something you can take into the civilian world after like Communications or Engineering. If you don’t think you could kill someone with your bare hands right now don’t go infantry and get in the way of those that do. Besides it takes around 10 guys in the rear to keep 1 fighting man in the front. Everyone serves a purpose, everyone contributes. Be honest with your parents when explaining your enlisting if you decide to. And no matter what you do in life, never quit.

Still wear mine. Its been almost thirty years now. We used to put "hunert mile an hour" tape around them so they wouldn't rattle.. before they came out with those mufflers. We were issued two sets. I don't know if it was an "order" or an SOP or not, but.. some of the fellas used to put one on each boot lace and tuck them into their boot in case they got their legs blown off, or.. in case they got their head blown off and their tags were lost. I never did that. I always knew that my body could be easily identified.. by my MASSIVE BALLS.

I'd add that the dog tags were rumored to have 365 separate beads on the neck chain then 52 beads on the smaller band for captured US troops to document their POW time or track time behind enemy lines but some soldiers disputed that. It sounds real, but no DA rule or SOP ever proved it.

Side note* The Allergy additional tag is usually Red in color, crazy story time-- had a guy who during the week of reception getting all the medical done at 30th AG on Benning didn't know he was allergic to Penicillin, got the butt shot and proceeded to be hospitalized that night. Other crazy story- another guy during FTX got bit in the head by a baby black widow spider that had crawled into his MICH helmet, he was hospitalized for 4 days. Had 4 other guys get bit by Brown Recluse spiders and have to have serious medical attention packing gauze into the affected areas after they had to go to triage and have the areas opened up and cleaned out, nasty little critters. Moral of the stories is get medical assessments before even going to MEPS as they still miss stuff, and always check your gear and person ensuring you are clear and properly protected-- same goes for battle buddies, always check each other over when in the field, make it habitual.

Hi Chris! I have a question- my son is at Fort Carson and reception will be over with there tomorrow. I talked to him last night and they had a briefing yesterday and they were told that they would deploy next month to Afganistan for 9 months. I mean, he just got done with 88M AIT at Ft. LW. Is this normal to deploy so quick? Is he accurately trained enough?
@christopherchaos6 жыл бұрын
Ya that can happen. We had new soldiers show up to the unit and deploy with us to Iraq quick like that and even some new soldiers join us in Iraq because they arrived while we were already gone. So they got those soldiers their gear and sent them to Iraq to meet up with us. As far as training goes he will get some basic classes likely before he leaves and the rest will be on the job stuff but he will also be with a lot of other soldiers that have been doing more training that will help him out.
@kimberlysmith91836 жыл бұрын
thank you, Chris! Yep! That's exactly what he was told - some were already there. This makes me feel better that he will be around those that can help with further training. Their unit is being attached to the 3rd combat aviation brigade. Can you tell me a little about that? do you know what he'll be doing?

Good video. I read & heard a few rumors the DoD & DA or US Dept of the Army, were T&Eing new format dog tag systems with RFID chips, soldiers medical-unit data, training information etc. I'm not sure if these new high tech chips-ID tags were too expensive to produce or if the system was deemed unsafe-un reliable. The concept seemed good but I could also see just having basic metal tags, 🇺🇸. In my day, early 1990s, soldiers would buy black metal tags or add OD 550 cord around the neck chain. Some combat arms & SOF guys would tie a dog tag to their combat-jungle boot or on some ops, not wear tags at all: 😎. I added clear plastic resin covers to my GI dog tags to prevent rust & reduce noise.
