Never heard of a J clamp before. They're called F clamps everywhere I've experienced them before. There are super handy F clamps that have a quicky clamp/release lever.

I bought 3 Wilton J clamps with missing feet. I was able to fab up a new swivel out of a nut and flat disc. I drilled the nut undersize and heated it to go over the ball end. then welded a 1/8"disc to it and peened over the top of the nut. It's not ideal but it beats throwing them out. Either way, I agree, best clamps out there for my uses.

Tried that once with a Bessy that lost the pad. Didn't work out as well as you.

Those really are great clamps. Expensive...but worth it for sure. Kevin, I do have a question that I bet you can help with...I work alone and often need to grasp 3 or even 4 pieces of material of a couple pounds or less at the same time, and they are usually oddly shaped (NOT lovely 90's and 45's and 30-degrees etc, but more organic). The reasons are complex, but I can't always weld one piece of an assembly to another, THEN add the third, THEN the fourth, etc. Have you ever created a reusable clamp -- not just a dedicated 3D fixture/framework -- that can hold multiple pieces at multiple angles so you can at least spotweld them in the right orientation? I was thinking something along the lines of those "Helping Hands" multiple spring clamp soldering stations, but those are way too weak for even smaller steel items. Thanks for all your great videos over the years!

@@KevincaronSculpture Excellent -- Thank you! The many images shown in that link really help generate thinking of a number good approaches. Hey, Kevin, you are like a member of the family to so many viewers, so have you ever done a sort of a bio/timeline on how over the years you became the artist and youtuber you are today? If not, you really should -- it would be so interesting and I bet would earn a zillion views. You are clearly a great guy that we all admire.

Wayyyyy stronger than a c clamp too. We used them all day long with structural steel beams. You can exert a lot of force with one of these and dont have to fear it ever coming un clamped

Very similar to the "F" clamp. I can't help but wonder if they are as prone to slippage as the "F" variety. My dear old dad who wouldn't say shit if his mouth was full of it always maintained that they were called F'n clamps for a reason!
