What are Lexical, Sight, Function words - English Pedagogy Course for CTET/MPTET -2020 | Chapter-09

1)Lexical words(content words):- words which have independent meaning and are found in vocabulary. Ex:- 🐈, principal,love, traffic light,take care of,by the way. *Function words:- is,the,might,can,however. 2) Function words:- words that have very little meaning.( Lexical words ke beech m use kiye jate h.) 3) sight words (vimp.):- aise words jinko ek nazar m phchaan lete hain(automatically recognise) hum. Example:- hour, good,left,hour,better,light etc. *Sight words can be recognised on sight,without a complicated analysis. 4) Diphthongs(gliding vowels):- Do vowels ki sound(double vowel sounds.) ek sath aaye aise words. Example:- oil,aisle,die. 5) Bottom-up approach:- alphabet-words-phrase-sentence-paragraph-story. 6) Top-down approach:- story-paragraph-sentence-words-alphabets.
