At 3:50, Leonard Nimoy just said something that went unmentioned in the credits and unacknowledged by IMDB. Namely, that Ted Cassidy voiced the Balok puppet in Corbamite Maneuver. No one who was a fan of Addams Family could mistake THAT voice. But I had to email IMDB twice to get them to add his credit. The confusion stems from the fact that Clint Howard's voice was overdubbed by another actor, Vic Perrin I think. And Clint Howard played the little boy version of Balok where as Ted Cassidy did the voice for the puppet version of Balok. But only one actor was credited as overdubbing Balok.

@scvandy3129 Жыл бұрын
"Durwood71," Agreed, but God created Sherry Jackson's ultimate, feminine charms to enhance and fill out Andrea's costume. And gifted her with a lovely voice surrounded by an enchanting, pretty face. Whether in that costume or not, Ms. Jackson had the undivided attention of millions of men and boys that Thursday night fall 1966. No doubt once they saw Andrea's fetching outfit they were praying for a 'side view.' NOW the world knows why 'it' was all for naught -- NBC's on-set, blue nose of a censor. But, patience paid off: everyone in movie theaters got a side peek the very next year when, back at "Star Trek"'s home studio Paramount, she kissed Craig Stevens in "Gunn" while wearing a bath towel loose over her breasts. And THAT role in "Gunn," that enticing view, happened because reportedly director Blake Edwards had been blown away by her, squeezed into Andrea's fetching outfit during her "Star Trek" lunch break in the studio commissary. [Ed. - Thank goodness she didn't wear a robe that day during meal break!] That 57-year old NBC "Star Trek" episode is like a time capsule in 2023 and this late 1990s Sci Fi Channel reminisce with the well-spoken, personable Sherry Jackson is like a time capsule, a quarter of a century later. We have "mratoz," to thank.

Sherry Jackson, lovely lady, and fine actress as well, as she proved in her bringing "Andrea" to life...there a few select scenes (if you watch), where Andrea/Corby/Brown get a kind of "robotic stare", which was well-played....got "sick" of the episode as a youngster, as it seemed to be in heavier rotation than the other episodes, lol! But now, I have great appreciation for this episode, in the deep psychological questions/issues raised, which get more and more "prophetic", as our world/society advances in "cyber-tech".....has perhaps, the greatest (almost) episode ending line: "Doctor Corby......was never here...."......awesome!!

She was in a Season 1 B&W episode of Lost In Space titled "The Space Croppers". One of the dumbest episodes of the sereies, and I'm still a big fan of the very funny/entertaining series, but she was sexy as hell in it... The Space Croppers (1966) - Lost In Space Will, Penny and Dr. Smith are attacked by a werewolf and they set out to track the beast down. The footprints lead them to a family of hillbilly farmers who seem to worship the strange plants they raise. A feud begins to brew when the Robinsons learn the aliens are stealing equipment, and Judy becomes jealous when the farmer's daughter Effra [Sherry Jackson] flirts with Don. Meanwhile, Smith courts the mother, Sybilla, and proposes to her, but only to weasel a ride back to Earth. Soon however, Smith becomes horrified when he learns Sybilla and her daughter are witches and his future stepson Keel shapeshifts into the same hairy beast under a full moon. In the pilot, she was #1 and she was more in charge...then Gene had to choose who to get rid of for the second pilot -- Spock or #1. Something to ponder...if they kept #1, she would have been the first woman to have a role with a starring role. However, I don't think the network would want having a woman in a high ranking role. So her interview could be 'plain sarcasm' or 'jealousy of Nimoy.'

In the A&E network biography of Gene Roddenberry, Majel remarks that women in the test audience were saying "Who does she think she is?" about her character Number One. At 4:47 Majel Barrett talks about why she never liked the Nurse Chapel character and upon listening to her talk it became apparent just how mental people can get over these characters sometimes. She goes on and on talking about a TV character in relation to women in real life and you just want to tell her *it's just a TV show*. Granted, it may not be the character of your dreams but you have a choice to do it or NOT do it, but don't talk like this somehow makes women look stupid when we're simply talking about a damn television character! Somebody had to play the part and they weren't gonna change it just because YOU didn't like how you think it makes women look. Christ almighty . . .
@bestlogicmaster972310 жыл бұрын
Agreed! The late Mrs. Roddenberry might consider how some strong, confident, intelligent women would not sleep with a married man who was the creator/writer/director of the TV series they were appearing in. Such women might want to be independent and have a career separate from their man's. (What other major body of work has she done outside of Star Trek?) Just stating the facts....
@MartinSage9 жыл бұрын
Funny that Ms.Barret disliked her character in ST but fell in love and married Gene Roddenberry at the end of the series in '69=
@georgeorwell45347 жыл бұрын
If you read "These Were the Episodes.....", there was a general dislike for Majel Barrett by the NBC people because they felt Gene was pushing her in a part because he was "shacking up with her" (no other explanation possible). There was no doubt, they really loved each other, but you're right, Barrett had a career because she hooked up with Gene. Hardly the path of an independent woman.
@markschroeder25784 жыл бұрын

Exactly what I was thinking! Frankly I didn't think less of Nurse Chapel for wanting to find her fiancé or find her a loser for falling in love with Spock. If not for her apparent nagging, Gene Roddenberry would never have cast her in Star Trek so she's hardly the archetype for a strong, independent woman.
