Just followed your advice and adopted a New Zealand rabbit who had been at our local humane society for three months, because nobody liked her ruby coloured eyes. And, as you say, she is the sweetest girl. She already wants to be with my other two rabbits, and she is very friendly and loving. I cannot believe anyone would want to experiment or eat such beautiful intelligent creatures, it really sickens me to think about it. Snowdrop will be a much loved pet for many years to come.

I had a new zealend white, she was the most gentle, sweetest and most loving bunny on the planet. she'd hope on my lap, lick my hands and cuddle up near me. i got her when i was twelve and she died after 5 years, i was young and didn't know how to liter train her and my mom is a neat freak, so i had to keep her in a steel cage for most of the time and she didn't get much exercise. i deeply regret my ignorance and i wish i can get back in time and fix my mistakes

I never have thought of red eyes as scary. But when we got my New Zealand White rabbit I just thought the red eyes made her so unique and cute. She was the runt of the litter and that might be why she's small for her breed and age, but she still looks so cute! She could never be sold for meat cause she's so small and maybe not even a show rabbit but she sure is sweet. Me and my family agreed to name her Sugar cause of her white fur and her sweet personality. She's lived up to her name and I have her so spoiled. I LOVE her sooo much!

I used to have one of these. I didn't take care of him properly, I was a kid and I was misinformed. But, we let him live in our yard. He ate our grass which was untreated, and no animals dared to get close to him because he was so big lol He ate a lot, and dug a lot of holes, and I went outside to see him really often. Whenever I'd go outside and put my hand down a little bit he'd come hopping towards it. Sadly he ended up going outside the home, someone left the door open and it was too late when we realized he wasn't there. I was so heartbroken and devastated, and still think about him whenever I see this breed. He really _was_ a bright and playful boy

I'm not sure what breed our bunny is but hes huge. We just got him today bc I guess our neighbors got bored of him. My hubby had to chase after him just to get him. I guess he was hiding under something. Idk I think they all make up stuff.. but raising an adult male bunny should be interesting. My hubby walked upstairs to me holding him & he just shook his head at me. 😅 I was like what? He likes cuddles 😊😍🤗!

My New Zealand white is a sweetheart he’s gentle and loves to be petted but is also super intelligent and is great around kids. He litter trained in just a few days and loves keeping himself clean. Their a true star so I don’t know why anyone would want to go for a different rabbit breed. And their eyes are blue but generally pink around the blue and sometimes will look red too but that makes them even more gorgeous.

I currently have 5 New Zealand white rabbits; two adults and 3 two month old little ones. They are honestly precious and the three youngsters are the most outgoing ones I have. They don’t stop roaming around in my house and always relax on my bed. The adult male I have has a attitude I did not expect but the female one is really sweet but shy. These rabbits are honestly one of the best breeds I’ve ever owned and I have owned a couple of different species for over 14 years. :D

I have two male baby New Zealands and they are mixed from different coats, the mother was jet black, and the father was fawn. The grandmother was a Flemish Giant so we now have a baby fawn named Cooper and a dark wild brown named Thumper. Thumper is very similar to a Flemish Giant and they are very large for only 7 weeks. The man said they were very large for their size and will be quite big fully grown. I hope they grow to be 10lb-11lb as they are growing very quickly

I have 3 NZW rabbits and a 1 1/2 mo litter of 9 (total of 12 rabbits) and I can tell you that they are so sweet. Most people don't like them because of their eyes (like she mentioned) but also because they're about the size of a cat when they're full grown. I personally love the larger rabbits and wouldn't trade mine for the world

I have one and I can confirm that they're the smartest of their species. They get attached to humans very easily. Mine is a male and whenever I go to its room it runs towards me and stands on its back legs to get some petting. Fascinating creature.

This is one of the only breeds that was bred to be handled by people regularly, and as such they actually make fantastic pets. compared to the more traditionally "cute" rabbit breeds, these guys are super cool with being handled and sharing their home with family members other rabbits might not get along with (like other pets and children)

New Zealands ARE THE BEST, most loving and intelligent rabbits, most affectionate and fun... Smaller breeds tend to be skittish and naturally more fearful of everyone around thus can be aggressive. NZs are absolutely fantastic in every way, and yes, once you try NZ, you will keep looking for them. And there is a lot of bunny to wrap your arms around which is what I adore!

He does make me feel a little less paranoid. My hubby tends to be more overbearing than me tho. Like duh I worry about our bunny getting into things. But I'm also trying to entertain his curiosity so we can at least try to break him in. This big boys just sitting in loaf position on the bed staring at me 😊😍. They can make excellent pets with the qualifier; MAKE SURE they are neutered/spayed. An "entire" NZ buck is usually an amiable fellow (exc if he's co-habiting with another un-neutered buck) but NZ "entire" does can tend to be distinctly mean/aggressive post kindling and when they haven't been bred for a while.

I have a rescue new zealand white that i found as a stray. i adopted her for the pure fact that she was a NZ white because i knew she would have a hard time finding a home otherwise. I was the same before i adopted her, i wasn’t fond or albino rabbits or mice but now i think they’re the most some of the most beautiful looking rabbits. My girl Lexi has the most outgoing personality and what you said about them being “the golden retriever” of the rabbit world is so true and she definitely is a little bit like a dog and a bit like a cat. If anyone is reading this considering adopting a NZ White, do it! You will not be disappointed. They’re so loving and so fun but also in my girls case, very sassy, lol.
