My style isn't any of these people featured and I LOVE THAT. I genuinely watched this video thinking, "yeah!" they are just wearing what they want to wear and I honestly think they pull it off. In the sense that it's not to fussy, a lot of them knew what they were wearing, so I like that thoughtful process in remembering what they are wearing. I may have liked a certain piece from one person, and a piece from another. I liked the overall variety we had some of that Gucci but we had thrift store, we had up cycle. The colours, the way the items were put together. I also loved hearing what they were passionate about, in the ugliness of the world, hearing people talk about art, music or mindset "just do it" I enjoyed the video. I have binged a lot of these videos, and so at this stage I'm down with it. It's really cool and I'm grateful as someone who lives so far away from NYC - I live in Aotearoa New Zealand. I am grateful to hear peoples thoughts and opinions but also see their outfits it's really cool.

I'm older now but in my young twenties my friends and I would hit up thrift stores all the time. I mean there was absolute gold at every one of them. Now it's so rare to find a really cool piece because with the popularity of " vintage " in the last few years people just buy up all the awesome stuff and rebrand, resell it for crazy money. Not mad at it though, wish we had the vision back then. Honestly, I never thought thrifted looks would become so mainstream.

7:24 you know, I have only been to the states once, when I was a child although I don’t have any memories. All my life I lived in Europe but from my childhood on I was brought up with American media culture, movies, tv-shows, etc. Now when I look at that segment of the video, with American high-schools, sailing or the new york skyline, there was a strange feeling of longing in me. As if I was looking at something known, so close but at the same time infinitely far; almost as if I was part of that history, that culture (because in some sense through the media I was). Although I know it was not part of my personal history to be part of that culture, but having absorbed it for so many years, looking back it became in some sense my mythical past; a past, that I know is not real but so bright and full of colour that it is so easy to see myself as having lived it.

In the early 2000s there was a window NYorkers wasn’t to keen keen on thrifting and there were a TON of nice vintage, thrift, and boutique shops FLEA markets around and treasure to be found . on a recent visit I noticed a lot of those shops have closed. And the ones that are open the pickings are slim.. I do a lot of my Thrifting out of state now, and have found the treasures is again. I’m not gonna say where as I’m not gonna blow up my spots, but we are on a good glide and have been for sometime now.🙂 Best thing I can say because I don’t want to be selfish. Is that the further out you go to better things get. And you have to plan a route and hit that same plan often and you will strike gold that’s a promise as the saying goes in Thrift, “THERE IS NEW MERCHANDISE EVERY DAY “.
