Was not expecting all the thrifting! I was raised in the USA and my parents taught me strict values on thrifting - sort of like how the Russian model mentioned but different reasons. To buy thrifted clothes implies that you are poor and reflects badly on your parents, but to buy high end would also imply that your parents are rich and therefore make you "un-humble" and make others feel bad - so we had to walk a very thin line where we only spent $25-50 per item, and wore it again and again, and avoided brand names, but never patched or mended our clothes, just bought new ones. I used to think it was inhumane to take thrifted clothes from those who really need it (unless it's a rare or vintage item and only fashion icons would be interested in it) and that it was better for the market to purchase new. Right now, I am on an online fast fashion kick, so I am not one to really judge. I hear this is really bad to do, but I've never felt more fashionable in my life! It's cool to see how my opinion has changed and is still evolving - after watching this video, I can see now how thrifting would be the better alternative than fast fashion - but I live in such an area where when I go to thrift stores, nothing is in style or cute - it's all pretty bad... We don't even have things like Chanel or even a JCPenny Department store for Levi's where I live! I want to thrift in a big city like Paris or LA or NY! It seems like a ton of fun. I'm sure you can find actually good peices in those areas.

honestly no matter where you’re thrifting, a lot of digging is required to find amazing pieces but it’s really worth it. You can find so much gold. I live in a moderate sized town and our thrift stores rival those of paris even
