Many thanks to Mr Alwitry and the others who have commented. I've been recommended the J&J Eyhance so am encouraged by the positive comments.

Thank you Mr. Alwitry for sharing your expertise and experience. I am 72 y/o with +6.50 sphere, mild astigmatism and cataracts in both eyes. Strabysmus Sx at age 7. Wore glasses since age 2 and am not bent on not needing glasses for reading. I am averse to the potential for starbursts and halos associated with current MF with concentric circles and am strongly considering the enhanced monofocal Eyhance or possibly Eyhance toric II if indicated. Without creating monovision and the uncertain success of neural adaptation required of my brain, is it a reasonable plan to use a straight monofocal set for distance in the dominant eye for the absolute sharpest distance vision and Eyhance in the non-dominant. Is there anything about the geometry of the Eyhance lens that would complicate making progressive spectacles after surgery?

I think he is referring to EDOF lenses such as Vivity. I have never heard the term premium monofocal before. What he seems to be describing is extended depth of focus.

Actually, there is a premium monofocal lens by J&J called a TECNIS Eyhance which does what he described. Anyway, take care and a speedy recovery to everyone.

I think he's referring to TECNIS Eyhence IOL, which is also called monofocal +.

there is a difference. a premium monofocal like the Eyehance, which is what he's referring to here, is different than the Vivity or other EDOF lenses.

@@johndoe-ep7qk Actually you are right. I stand corrected. After hearing more information there is a sub category called premium monofocals.

What about monofocals set for near vision (20 - 60 cms)? After all there is a subset of patients with myopia who are used to wearing glasses 24/7 for distance vision and spend most of their day reading or watching television. Does blended vision with a differential of under 1.5 D between the two IOLs work for elderly people who have never had LASIK/PRK or used contact lenses? Thanks and regards, doctor.

What gives better vision a distance set monofocal with a premium monofocal set more intermediate or a distance monofocal with a multifocal?
