Thanks for your video :) I am sure many people were very interested to learn there is a difference from what a highly ranked touring pro uses compared to what is available in a tennis shop. Not all professionals use pro stock racquets. Most of our players over the years when they were juniors or starting their pro career were using "shop racquets". Wilson/Head are not keen on offering pro stock racquets to just anyone. I remember one of our players who was a top junior would ask for pro stock racquets from fellow countrymen as his racquet company would not offer the pro stock as he was too lowly ranked (he went on to be top 5 and a Major slam winner), once his ranking improved they offered the racquets to him. The Pro Stock really became important when Head switched from Austrian Made (some times made in Austria, assembles in CZ) to China made. They still produce a small amount of pro stock racquets in Austria, for their "big names" and development. The difference in graphite too is what separates "shop" from Pro racquets. one company uses Japanese graphite vs Chinese graphite. One of our players was always happy with their racquets from their racquets sponsor, but would have them 50 shipped to the office for us to measure weight & flexibility (RA), we would get the 12 we needed out of the batch and ship the rest back. One of our players owned their racquet mold and would have batches made up and the hairpins were sent in painted. Each racquet takes about 2 hours to put on molded handle, weight/balance, grip. Most recreational players will never have to worry about wanting pro stock racquets or even customizing their racquet/s with RPNY Tennis Or Harry ;) but for those who feel they are could benefit from a little tinkering with weight/balance i would suggest buying some lead tape and a couple of leather grips and synthetic grips for starters. Thank you for your video Harry.

The Microgel Radical MP was a good platform racquet as it was very light in stock form. I bought a set of four pro stocks back in 2010 and I'm still using them today. One of the other nice things about pro stocks is that the hairpins are XL and cut down so you can get a 27.5 or longer frame if that's what you want. I think that one of the best things about them is the consistency between frames. If you want this with stock racquets, you usually have to ask for the lightest frames in stock and then have your customizer bring them up to your specs.

you can get 2x microgel radicals in the UK in 2022 for £143... quite tempting to buy a pair.

Simply love the channel, thanks for sharing the knowledge you've got from so many years in the business with people around the world. I'm from Brazil, btw. Anyhow, regarding the video's great final conclusion on making our own "pro-stock", I get absolutely upset that almost all of the amateur tennis players just get whatever racket they find good-looking (or someone told them it's a good one) without even knowing or taking the time to analyse if it actually suits their game (or worse, causes them injury). Even though it's not rocket science, I'm currently on a racquet/string journey and man, it is an absolute pleasure. Wish my fellow tennisman could get to know this beautiful jungle.

I recently purchased a six.one 95 from Wilson Pro Labs. I can actually say that I enjoy this stick when I need the most control in a match. If I'm in a slug fest with a good opponent, my PS 97 flexes too much for my liking and I end up coming up short on power. The six.one simply doesn't buckle. The only downside to this six.one is that if you shank a ball, you're getting some ugly scuffs that will be difficult to remove.
@garyhilson72202 жыл бұрын
I like the stock Wilson 95 nCode ProStaff. The only downside is that you get pushed around. And for me, when you start adding weight, the playing characteristics are lost from the original stick. I'd love to get a Pro Stock Stick but it too cost prohibitive to spend that kind of money. I'd rather buy a older 200G, Volkl DNX 10, Head Speed MP and customize it to my tastes. Years ago, I bought a customized Boris Becker 11 that Donald Young had here in Atlanta and took the lead out of the handle, kept the it under the bumper guard and modified the grip. Now that's what I base all my stick on.

Back in the day Boris Becker bought the mold from Puma and paid Head to fabricated his racquets. Talk about customization.

Tennis racquets are tennis racquets. Probably about .5% of people even know about prostocks, paintjobs or bother using customization to match specs.

How do you buy a pro stock racquet if you aren’t a pro?
@nightowldickson2 жыл бұрын
@Tom R I think he's asking where you can buy it. On Wilson's website in some countries they sell the pro version. If you are looking for pro-stock sometimes players sell them second hand online but you have to be super careful that it's not 'fake'.

Blade pro is not a pro stock H22 and Murray is playing a Prestige MP-L pro stock now. Cap guard? lol Cap grommets. Most pro stocks are usually a different mold, layup, custom drill pattern or all of the above. So yes it’s very different and not just in how it’s customized for weight/balance etc. Novaks PT113B is a completely custom layup, mold and string pattern. This channel is probably the largest source of tennis information on KZbin.
@ericzhong58632 жыл бұрын
Yea and I dont recall the video mentioning layup at all. It would make a larger difference than mold shape.

There’s no such thing as a “stock pro-stock” racquet. Stock pro-stocks are bare hairpins that have not yet been customised to the pro player prior to lead in the hoop, custom handle applied and silicone injected for tail weight.
@chuckfriebe8432 жыл бұрын
Apparently it’s a “HARpin”, not a “HAIRpin”.
