Hey guys If I was intelligent I would've made a comment like this a month ago when I uploaded this video, but I didn't really expect this to get much traction outside of a small community. So firstly, just wanna say thanks for stopping by, watching the video, liking, subbing, following my twitch, and etcetera. Recently broke 800 followers on Twitch, and the feedback on this video has made me realize that there is definitely an interest for this kind of content that I did not expect. Secondly, (again talking about Twitch) once Nitro Fueled comes out, I plan to do open lobbies with viewers and friends. This will start on PS4 and if there's enough interest I might include Switch and Xbox One (I'll for sure be buying it on PS4 and Switch. PS4 for primary purposes and Switch for breaks at work). So, if this is something you're interested in taking part in, or just spectating, go follow me on Twitch. Third, I'll also be playing through Nitro Fueled max% live on stream when it comes out. This will most likely be exported to KZbin later on. If I end up really enjoying the game and there isn't some ridiculous unfun speedtech that makes speedrunning that game more annoying than fun, I'll most likely end up doing speedruns of the game as well. Lastly, since there seems to be interest in CTR99, I think I'm gonna try to do a series of video guides for beating oxide times (and generally improving) for every track. Though I don't consider myself a time trialer and dont do a lot of the crazy skips some people do, I did use time trials to improve at the game, and making a point to beat every oxide time without any unintended shortcuts was my first stepping stone to improvement, and i think its a great way for everyone to get better.

the standard turbo item, to my knowledge, gives the same speed and reserves as a 3 MT slide. juiced up it counts like a turbo pad and will give SF. Masks don't do anything with boost/reserves, just basically increases your speed by a flat amount for the duration of the mask.
@bubba65835 жыл бұрын
So how are speed ghosts different in nitro fueled? I honestly probably shouldn’t have watched this video because I’ve never played ctr before and now I’m going to try to pull this off and fail, but it was super interesting. And your voice sounds nice.
@iTheDashy5 жыл бұрын
I can't really say for certain cuz I haven't played NF at all but the game seems to treat downhills and uphills different fundamentally. In OG, all that matters is the actual geometry that your wheels are on, NF looks like it programmed whole sections to give faster speed whether in the air or on the ground. Take that with a grain of salt though since I haven't played the game myself and don't know if that's 100% the case.
@bubba65835 жыл бұрын
iTheDashy so will you make video about it when it comes out? And that would make sense bc the small polys of going downhill wouldn’t help anymore. But they at least kept the other mechanics, right?
@iTheDashy5 жыл бұрын
At the very least I'll be uploading my first playthrough of the game here in it's entirety (or in a couple parts because max% might take like 10 hours or something with all these new tracks to do time trials for) As far as speedtech stuff goes, I might make another video in a similar style for NF a few weeks after it comes out. Don't really wanna make a whole video talking about speed stuffs right away and then a few days later we find something else that makes the video basically irrelevant. From my understanding though most other stuff is still in the game.

After getting the chance to play some multiplayer, I can definitely say this is the case. I don't think losing in multiplayer is a big deal whatsoever really, but the most unfortunate thing that I saw was that in my public lobbies, I was usually the only one to finish, and I think that's probably unfun for everyone else. The 20 second timer after the 1st place finishes needs to be adjusted to 20 seconds after 3rd or 4th finishes. The skill disparity in the game is way too high for the current system.

It's not too bad. As long as you spend time playing the game and discovering some of these quirks and mechanics, which you'll likely do just by playing by yourself in Adventure Mode, you can probably reach a level where you can realistically compete against your average CTR player. I, for one, have played the original CTR for countless hours and only today have I actually learnt about what the hell "USF" even is. Funnily enough, I managed to get the 26th best Relic Race time for Blizzard Bluff on the Switch version despite this.

just so you know: sacred fire is called like that because the guys that made the first guide were french and in french a big fire is called "feu sacrè" which literally translates into sacred fire. saffi fire comes always from the french "sans avoir feu, feu infinie" which means "without fire, infinite fire" and is just a tech to get infinite reserves by making a lot of boosting. the super turbo pads are intended because 90% of the times are located before huge jumps that you wouldnt be able to pass without huge speed. speedghosts are not only done by going in downhills but also by bouncing on edges and other weird ways. im sorry that you didnt know about the time trial community that basically invented all the stuff that you mentioned in this video, but just let you know that we exist and we are always pleased to help anybody that is interested to learn this game deeply

You know what's crazy for me. I am watching your gameplay and hearing you explain things. But when I look at this and hearing your explanation. I am just here thinking back to when I played this as a kid and this is basically how I play all the time. Without even knowing all the fancy names. Also using Coco way back. Like all this feels normal to me like, isn't this common knowledge? I just named it, drift jumping/hopping, boost hopping, turn hopping, and that downhill speed thing you said, I just called that speed hopping to keep going fast. Maybe the 2 buttons to jump, because I only used 1 button to jump. Maybe I just timed it right? Dun know And I didn't even know those 2 bars next to the speedometer even excisted until a few months ago tbh x) Since I always looked at the exhaust and just timed everything from feeling. Feels weird, like I learned allot but nothing at the same time. It really is what you said in the beginning,it probably just came naturally to me. Cuz looking at this gameplay just feels like I am watching myself play. Thanks for the video, was curious about any hidden tech because if the remake. And I am excited especially with the new tracks. Was very informative, just wish you timed what was on screen more with what you said at the time. 👍

i also speedrun this game. i didn't know about any of the advanced tech until earlier this year despite having played the game for at least 15 years. my time is a tied 74th place in any% warpless right now and im satisfied with that because my goal was just to get top 100. i've played the CTR demo at gamestop and watched basically every bit of gameplay i could, so i'm going to confirm a few things for Nitro-Fueled. 1) we can still u-turn! or at least, in the build I played you could. I've not seen any gameplay online of someone doing it, but if you hold L1 and Spam R1 while doing a u-turn, it produces the same result as in the original, which is AMAZING. 2) speedghosts are still in although they seem slightly weaker. Hard to really say because they weren't in the demo build that I played, but I saw them in action in some gameplay of a more recent build. 3) in the older build you can't jump nearly as frequently as the original, but i think they've fixed that a bit in the later builds 4) reserves are noticeably weaker. they're harder to build up initially since they run out faster, but it basically works the same way, it just doesn't last as long. probably for balance, who knows. 5) USF NO LONGER GETS CANCELED WHEN YOU BOOST! this is my favorite new change to the game. there also seems to be more USF pads than before, as there is one at the end of Polar Pass now. but yeah, being able to maintain USF until you hit a wall is HUGE! it was super fun on polar pass and i'm sure it'll be even more fun on other tracks.

The wheels dissapear making it look like you are hovering.

Basically you wanted to explain this in their remastered, but you forget that they already explained it way before this remastered released. The one who explained all of this was Nyxx, CTR speed expert and Tiziano was the one who demonstrated all of them. USF was very rare and can only found of certain areas like Last big iump on Polar Pass, some turbo ramp N-Gin labs and of course TURBO TRACK for the famous USF on every turbo-pads. SF and the others was very easy to differentiate because it has several conditions to meet before getting it, but on remastered version, you cant see speedometer anymore so you need sharp memories for each speed.

You get Sacred Fire just by going over a Turbo Pad. However to /maintain/ that speed, you need to have reserves (as described in this video). If you have plenty (for example, on Coco Park, if you wait until the last Turbo Pad to hit one) then there's no need to do mini turbos. If you have none (for example, Mystery Caves where the pads are pretty much right at the start) then you should be doing mini turbos over them so that you don't run out of reserves and lose the speed.

@@iTheDashy good to know this a cool video you gotta do the same video but when NF releases, keep it up!

the bad point on these techniques is only a few tracks can work well getting you less than a second and some tracks you need consistent perfection
@BoostedMonkey055 жыл бұрын
Sewer speedway, hot air skyway, crash cove, roo's tubes is where I get consistent sacred fire

Came here after losing in Hard mode in Nitro Fueled
@SpikeRose5 жыл бұрын
Forget hard mode, even trying to place in some of the relic challenges on medium are unusually unforgiving. If you aren't one of these guys, Nitro Fueled is not for you.

Spike Rose I completed medium with no problem, but god.. Hard is just unbelievable

It's funny how spamming the jump button ended up being tech to keep your boost speed both in CTR and MK8

Does the Froggy-tech work in CTR NF though?

When I played this as a kid, I didn’t know any of this. I just played and I had fun. Now knowing all this, I feel turned off from the fact that there’s going to be people that are fiends in doing this just destroy everyone online. I consider myself a great gamer, to the point where people say I should stream blah blah etc, so maybe when I play and get used to doing it myself, I’ll think about it differently but for now, I just don’t like it. I hope at least those glitches that let you skip the track will be fixed tho haha

GhostInTheSmoke Pretty well why I won't ever touch CTR online. I stick to Sonic karting games which have some abusable mechanics but nothing like CTR

so basically reserves are “energy “ stored every time i slide boost and i can use them during speed pads by just going over them ?
@iTheDashy5 жыл бұрын
Kinda. They're being "used" constantly whether you have fire (mini turbo speed), sacred fire (over a turbo pad), or anything other level of speed. They're gained by slide boosting, and the reserves just define how long you'll hold that speed without performing another boost.
@Batistadx45 жыл бұрын
I REALLY think this video wouldve benefited if you had written up a script. Otherwise soldi video explaining the mechanic.
@iTheDashy5 жыл бұрын
yeah but I'm dumb xd even when I try to write scripts, all I do is write bullet points and end up deviating anyway.

Can you keep blue fire in ctr99 like you do in nitro fueled?

I ended up reaching sacred fire at one point, and I was like WOAH!
@BoostedMonkey055 жыл бұрын
when I was 6, when I became somewhat proficient at power sliding around the map (this is one reason I like Hot Air Sky Way so much), I didn't know I was achieving something that every CTR nerd was calling sacred fire until now. I got called for cheating by my own uncle because of my power slide spam and basically sacred fire.
@UltimateTS645 жыл бұрын
@@BoostedMonkey05 that's hilarious 😂, he thought you were cheating when really you were just being a pro without knowing it.

They are the same, even better they are actually refined so you can easily get SF, but i dont think those god level SC in OG is still intact

I have a question, Dashy: 1.) Are you going to speedrun Crash Tag Racing: Nitro Fuel? 2.) Could this info be Useful for CTR:NF?
