the ones in the videogame should be Meleusines (or Melusines), which were traditionally shown having a snake/eel-like tail, wings, and the face and body of a woman. Those come from European (French, Northern Italian, German) folklore, and are described as cursed water faeries that must break their curse by marrying a knight or someone noble-hearted without being seen by him until after the marriage (owing to the trickstery nature). upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/ff/Melusine-bok_1500.gif that's from a 15th century book, pretty similar to what we see in game, i'd say

Damn, I haven't played Witcher 3 in quite a while(due to needing a bit of a break after finishing it after 200+ hours, but also needing to start working on my bachelor's degree) and hearing the music from the game HIT ME HARD. The feels and the nostalgia are here. I wanna replay the game so much...but my bachelor's degree ain't done, yet :(

You can get both your degree and your Witcher 3 fix! You just have to ignore your degree, lol. I barely graduated, but dammit, I did graduate. What's your bachelor's in, if you don't mind me asking? Mine was psychology (I did good in all my psych classes, just bad in most other stuff, aha)
@luke342w5 жыл бұрын
@@cassuttustshirt4949 Computer science. I'm not comfortable disclosing the exact topic of my bachelor's before I complete it, but I can tell you it has a lot to do with both location services and weather services. And for the classes, I didn't choose any non-computer-science classes. I was very good in most of them(a lot of 90+% averages) and about two or three, that I really hated, that I barely got through :D After I finish this, I hope I'll be able to go do my masters in Finland, if all goes well :) Are you also planning to pursue a masters' degree, if I may ask?
@cassuttustshirt49495 жыл бұрын
@@luke342w You didn't have to choose any classes not related to your field? What about 'general education' classes or whatever they are called where you are? I didn't even get to take a psychology course my first year, haha. And yeah, I did will in most of my psych classes (Just baaaarely passed Statistics in Psychology, and to this day I think the teacher (who really liked me) might have have fudged my grades just enough for me to pass..) and I didn't do so well in 'Psychoactive Drugs and Behavior' simply because the textbook was old, and the prof was old and boring, and neither the book nor the prof knew what they were talking about. Wish I had the other prof for that class, the same guy who liked me in Statistics in Psychology, because he also taught the psychoactive drugs class. He was a deadhead who had followed them on tour and been to several festivals. He was the much better prof to have for the psychoactive drugs class. But, I didn't get him, I got the boring guy. And the final paper I wrote for a really hard prof. was "Comparing transcranial magnetic stimulation versus electroconvulsive therapy in otherwise treatment resistant major depressive disorder" and I got an A-! Damn, I'm turning this into a nostalgic word wall, I'm sorry. And no, I'm not planning on getting a Master's, it's been years since I've graduated anyway. When I get my Crohn's disease and trigeminal neuralgia under control I want to work at a nursing home or aging resource center. I'm good with old folks, even if they have some form of dementia. If you read all of this, I salute you.
@luke342w5 жыл бұрын
@@cassuttustshirt4949 I mean, I did, but those were compulsory, anyway. We had math with computer science related focus(that I use every day in my programming), discrete mathematics(which is basically logic on steroids, which I also use every day), statistics(which I use heavily in AI related things) and maybe some others(can't remember more atm), that were also completely necessary for this field of study. But we could also take stuff like sports classes and I think also some completely random stuff from other colleges, that I didn't take. And yeah, I did read all of that :D Good luck with your health issues...I can only imagine how unpleasant and limiting it can be :/ I'm thankfully completely ok, health wise...
@cassuttustshirt49495 жыл бұрын
@@luke342w Hey, thanks for the well-wishes! I'm just glad my health issues didn't crop up until after college! You're lucky that all the classes you're taking can be applied to your major. I had to take things like history (Which I didn't mind, I'm a huge history buff! Could have done without art history, though..) and speech/public speaking, things that don't really apply to a psych major. And god, that speech class, I usually love things like that, but the prof. was an old, mean, tenured crook. And when I say crook, I mean it. HE was the one that wrote the textbook for the class (Which was expensive even for a textbook, even though it was soft-cover garbage) and the homework and whatnot was right in the textbook, so you'd have to tear out the page to hand it in, making the textbook worthless. You couldn't give it to a friend about to start the class, you couldn't sell it back to the bookstore to get a bit of money back, you obviously couldn't rent the thing, only buy it. So every semester, a new crop of students had to buy that textbook full price. And you don't have to take some kind of fitness credit? Huh. I did. I didn't want to take anything like running or basketball or climbing. I wanted to take Yoga, but that class fills up fast with people like me who want a slightly more 'relaxing' fitness credit. In the end, I took Tae Kwon Do. I was horrible at it, and the only thing I learned is that I think girls look super cute in those martial arts uniforms. And, if god help you, you make it through THIS whole word wall of my college nostalgia, you deserve a goddamn medal.

During my first playthrough I personally was a bit surprised by the "boss" Siren. The whole quest was pretty fun, it was also interesting to see that other monsters live in the cave where she was worshiped. But the fight itself? First time playing, I got her to the ground (I think with Igni, but it has been some time, so I am not 100% sure, could have been Aard as well) and just killed her while she was on the ground - just like other Sirens. It was a bit disappointing, although it made for an easy quest. Not sure if they patched it, because the second time I played, she took alot of damage while on the ground, but you couldn't just 1 shot her like other sirens.

It took two gouts to kill her, but the burning damage kept her on the ground, and my stamina regen'd before she could shake it off. It was pretty easy.
