In Fallout 1 it's actually explained that the mutations of the various creatures are caused by trace amounts of FEV in the air released after the destruction of US military facilities housing samples of the stuff rather than radiation.
@heavyfrompootis43853 жыл бұрын
Is that why I'm more than sub brick intelligent?
@yosephbuitrago897 Жыл бұрын
Yeah but this is often disputed with the original creators and between various writers who want the mutations to be due to FEV, those who want the mutations to be due for radiation, and those who want it to be due to a mix of both. It’s not very clear and there’s a lot of conflicting information/sources

Well, as mentioned, the commonwealth System was intended to be a stabilizing layer of governance between the state and federal level, but all it did was add more bureaucratic nonsense and inefficiency to an already-faltering system. With that in mind - and with an understanding that a lot of Fallout's history is satirical or tongue-in-cheek, ideas like a single Californian state being split between two Commonwealths, or West Virginia being part of the Northeast Commonwealth starts to make more sense. It's a perfectly good map of a dysfunctional system.

The official Fallout POD was 20 July, 1947, when for whatever reason the extraterrestrials that would've crashlanded at Roswell instead remains observing the world from orbit as it develops throughout the Atomic Age. Because the aliens never crashed, we humans never had the opportunity to discover and reverse-engineer such advanced technological marvels as the transistor, which in Our Earth was developed by Bell Laboratories in November 1947, a mere five months after the Roswell Incident. The rest is history...

What if we did this, with better borders, not during the cold war, and weakening the federal government at the same time. Sort of like, instead of the commonwealths being a counterweight to the federal government, the federal government is a counterweight to the commonwealths. The federal government would mainly handle inter-commonwealth disputes and commerce, then also trade, foreign policy, and defense. Secession would still be illegal, and the commonwealths wouldn't have a military. I could see that working, don't know about you guys though. Oh and states would still have a great deal of power, and influence in the commonwealths. It would basically be blocs of states, instead of individual states, it wouldn't weaken their authority very much if at all. And would probably strengthen their overall power in the union.
@fuckeveryone33823 жыл бұрын
Cause really, wouldn't the great plains be better off with combined political power, rather then being individual sparsely populated states? And also, this would need to be combined with heavy federal reforms, and reformed political systems for the individual commonwealths. Also we should build a new capital in the center of the country, not including alaska and hawaii in its location at the center of the country, for obvious reasons. No one but politicians, capitol hill staff, and their families, should really be living in the capital in the first place, and even then, most politicians should be in the states they represent most of the time. DC created a huge constitutional hole, that still hasn't been filled. So washington(the city), should be included in maryland, and a new capitol built out west, without the large population surrounding it this time

I played Fallout since Fallout 1and i absolutely love the series but there's a lot of misinformation on the lore of the game because of 12 year old fans posting on Reddit what they believed to be true I am guessing but most importantly because the lore in the series doesn't stay consistent between different developers and games.

IRL california is not very settled or universal when it comes to politics. some parts of california are some of the most liberal places in the united states and others have general ideologies in line with any part of the deep south. It makes sense that California would have split into two states. And in fact it wasn't that long ago that a proposed split of the state actually did happen. Actually, it probably happened after the making of this video. But that's besides the point. Although the border is a tad bit weird. That can be explained by a natural movement of people with certain ideologies moving towards one area of california to be with people like them. And that of another ideology moving to a different part. Almost like a reverse diffusion.
