Bench space, upright fridge, Slide out pantry, Lithium battery and DIY all big ticks for me. Nicely done.

You have a great setup and probably the most important point is that it works for you (and Bianca). The upright fridge is a luxury I'd like to have but while the trusty old Engel still works well, I'll keep it on the "one day" list.

The best setup is one that gets used often! Well done 👏 ✔️

I've watched your previous video's on your canopy build. I have a 2013 GU Patrol Cab Chassis with an AWL Fiberglass Canopy fitted. The vehicle is an Ex Electricity Authority work truck which had an internal galvanised steel shelving system fitted during its original Electrical Authority Build. I love the internal fit-out, one of the selling factor for me getting the Patrol 4 years ago, but with the Patrol weighing in at 3.5T, I've been looking at the feasibility of replacing the fiberglass canopy with a aluminium canopy and drawer & Shelving, but the issue I keep coming up against is finding drawer & Shelving combo's that is as practical to my current internal fit-out. I just find it so annoying that MRT and others manufactures just don't seem to have drawers and shelving units that match up in uniform sizings, such as MRT's X-Series Drawer and Shelving unit being 500mm deep, but their X-Series drawer units are 570mm deep. A ripe pain trying to make best use of available space in a canopy. I'm considering just having my current shelving System replicated in Aliuminium to reduce weight and including drawers at the bottom of both sides .

Cool set up where abouts north of Perth is good camping, I’m from uk but lived in Perth when I was younger 👍

Hey mate, it depends how far from the city you're wanting to travel but I always find Jurien Bay / Sandy Cape is great for a weekender. 🙂

Great setup, the design is pretty darn good with everything in arms reach. I use the tray on my trayback ute and we even run out of bench space when camping.

I've got to agree with you about the floor in the canopy. I'm going to rip the 15mm marine ply floor out to reduce weight. Must be 60kg in there 😮

I’m sure you’ve worked this out, but a simple and cheap 12v water pump, a bit more hose and a spray nozzle would save you that 2m walk for water! (Gotta be a first world problem, hey?)

Can you pull the awning out while your canopy is open

Yep! It does slightly push into the awning but not enough to cause any issues

Evidently my comment about your fridge mods being a poor relfection of the product was not the only one :). I don't blame you for doing the mods but your and other reviews have certainly convinced me to compare other brands once I'm ready to buy a second fridge. Thanks for the content, appreciate all your great ideas which are particularly useful as I'm in the process of fitting out my new canopy. Cheers. ps: if you don't mind me asking, where did you get the plastic drawers? (trying to keep weight down and avoid drawer runners...)

Hey mate! The drawers were from Big W - a lot of places sell them in varying sizes so it’s a matter of finding ones that suit your setup 🙂

I know you've mentioned it in another video but I just can't remember, but how much does your car weigh fully loaded for a trip and what's you're gvm? Pretty sure you've got the pedders gvm upgrade too Do you use the back seats at all or do you think you should/could have bought a single cab?
@explorebound
@explorebound 9 ай бұрын
Hey mate, last time I weighed the setup it came in at 2.92t mostly packed for a weekender, for longer trips we'd probably add an addition 100kg to that (or potentially more). My GVM is upgraded to 3.45t (factory GVM is 3.1t). Regarding the rear seats, I do use them from time to time but potentially not enough to justify them.. It is however great having the rear space to store bits and pieces we don't want in the canopy (pillows, bedding etc). Back in the day the perfect option in my opinion was the space-cab as it gave you that storage space and extra seats if you occasionally need them without adding too much length to the vehicle, however modern Dmax space-cabs no longer have rear seats unfortunately.

@@exploreboundgood info. I have a dual cab hilux and have to say it is great having that extra rear seat space without people in it for so much extra storage area, my back seat area is always full of stuff, I have to clear a spot to take the dog out for a drive. Bigger tray may be good on a single cab, but not much room to store stuff & people if you dont have a canopy.
@JoshSinnott97
@JoshSinnott97 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reply mate. Those figures are pretty good hey, even if you're under factory gvm, I think you made the right call increasing it to handle the weight better and to potentially allow for extra passengers (weight) too That's interesting how the space cab doesn't have rear seats on the dmax. The dual cab I had years ago only had a tub so I liked it because the rear seats were the only dust free storage I had, but I just thought with a canopy and a single cab that you wouldn't necessarily miss that if the canopy was bigger

I am wondering if you get much wobbling going on for your cooker? I love the layout a lot but with the hot plates at the end of the slide out, I am guessing it would rock around a bit if you're not careful(?)
@explorebound
@explorebound 9 ай бұрын
Hey mate, there’s a little bit of movement in it but not enough to be a problem, or even to require any careful use. I think the size of the main runners help with this 👍
