I’m surrounded by people who have no desire to be sober and it’s the people closest to me: my husband, sons and friends. I can distance myself from friends but not my husband or adult sons. So I just have to constantly remind myself of my why: my health. Before I quit my blood pressure was very high, and my depression and anxiety were keeping me up at night. I realized I had to quit and I try to play the tape forward when I’m tempted: drinking = 3am panic attacks. High blood pressure (and I want to stay off medications). Thank you for this video and all the content you share. It helps to watch when I’m feeling tempted.😊

WHO : Enemies to my sobriety: easily the guys that I date and one of my friends, ghosts (marshmallow-brain) WHAT: sadness, restaurants, hard workouts, loneliness, when: At night, holidays, weekends, boredom, argument, on vacation, first class, WHERE: breweries, liquor store, restaurant, visiting, strong enough of temptation SOBER = no longer a temptation! WHY: I am not sure why I started drinking. My desire to not admit that I have a problem. Why cannot I simply have 1 beer on a Saturday? Why do I feel like a failure that I cannot have just one beer or one glass per 7 day week? What is wrong with me? I watched the whole episode and wrote all of this. BONUS: Bad Habits! *Note to self* 1. I am packing my bags for the future. 2. I am getting sober for myself. 3. The enemies to my sobriety are, old trama, brothers peer pressuring, holidays, co workers that use, loneliness. 4. I drank at home the most. 5. I drank to fill a void, to feel better, to forget about my problems, I didn't respect myself as I should have, I was bored, everybody around me drank. I was not strong enough to say no but with the help of the lord I hope to stop
ah you list all the stressful things that could be drinkable events but I think the good times are worse than the bad times. bad time: hunker down with snacks and bed. good time: woohoo I feel super! let's ruin that for myself with a drink. it's going to be the best time ever cos I'm already having the best time.... self sabotage much? place. home. we've been locked down on and off for 2 years so we learned how to get p*ssed at home for a fiver bottle of wine and not allowed to go anywhere so home it is. tut. got me on the bad habits procrastination

I can’t put my finger on it but every now and then the wish to drink creeps up on me. I dreamt that I’d been drinking last night. I remember after I stopped smoking more than 50 years ago, I’d dream about smoking and be so pleased when I woke up and found I was innocent of imbibing tobacco. I think I had such a feeling last night about drinking, but I’m not certain. Having been sober for the last 17 months I want to redouble my efforts and eliminate alcohol from my life completely. That means being alert to wispy wishes that carry me to the drinks aisle of the supermarket. In the old movies when the king felt vulnerable he’d shout “redouble the guard” and an extra platoon of strong men-at-arms would rush to obey the command. Well I’m determined that I redouble my effort and protect the hard won investment I’ve made over the past months. I want to thank you Jae for the continuous kindly encouragement and in my turn encourage anyone hesitating about stopping drinking alcohol. If a stupid old man like me can stop, anyone can. Good luck. 😂😂😂

Not my bandmates, not music, but my resolve of not drinking it when it is placed in my hand. I'm on night two of being back on the road, and I feel pretty good about it. I am starting to really like being sober all the time. It's the closest I've ever felt to really WANTING to be sober. And I tried quitting for a decade, but never actually "wanted" to quit. @@sccgproductions Likewise 😉 Maybe focus on having more conversations with your higher self, instead of why you can't fit in with people that aren't worth your attention. This channel is 100% a result of this exact strategy Btw the name "sccgproductions", what do you produce?

@@GettingSoberAgain lol this channel is old as hell like as in 2007-2008 old and was originally something I started with 2 other friends in high school who I took media arts classes with. The videos we made were cringe and are long gone but the channel got its name by combining our initials lol. Currently I am 8 days into sobriety and I’ve been binge watching your channel the last day or two

What if my first enemy is my significant other, who doesn't take seriously my desire to stay sober? I don't want our relationship to end, but I don't want to go on drinking too 😢

The most important relationship that you're ever going to have is the relationship that you have with yourself! take it seriously, set boundaries, and you will attract who you need in your life most.
